I've been watching a lot of those grand-scale war-themed movies lately, and they've got me wondering; Would practiced maneuvers/ positions such as the wedge and the phalanx work against the walking dead? If these tactics can be used against the living (who are trained to dodge and evade damage btw), wouldn't they be even more efficient in killing the reckless, berserker hordes of the undead? Also, these soldiers would be armored; I mean, if it can protect from steel, wouldn't it be able to protect from claws and teeth? I know for a fact that zombies would have a hard time biting through: medieval armor, samurai plating, gimp suits, etc.

What do YOU think the pro's and con's would be?

Well with that said this site should just shut down.....Why do you start discussions if you are going to take offence to eveyone that doesnt see eye to eye with you....... I bow down to your supperior knowledge in this fantasy site and all things zombie....have mercy on me.....
Hey I NEVER take offense, it's you that's ALWAYS getting butthurt. I believe that if you begin a discussion, it's only polite to participate and actually DISCUSS with the people that take the time to post. If you are too sensitive to even take a response, don't bother entering the discussion.

BTW I do appreciate your opinions lol

LMFAO...dude, that was in June XD

i understand where you are coming from but the thing with zombies is that, when to person is infected there whole body shuts down and all organs and organelles in the body but when reanimated the brain is awake and doesnt have much memory nor cell reprouduction so that means that the nerve cells arent liveing, so basiclly they feel no pain.
Yeah, the absence of pulsation to the pain receptors is a frightening advantage.
not feeling pain isn't really a big deal because personally when i shoot i don't fire to wound I go for the one shot one kill and put a round through the brain and its over
I think that it's great that you are capable of being that persistently accurate, but, for most people, that's easier said than done.
personally i would do Flintstones, you cant deny yourself a picture with BamBam and Pebbles playing in the sand...

and Booyabiznitch...that is the biggest one line description i have ever seen, and you left enough holes to contradict yourself, you made yourself overestimate your foes by making it seem an infinite army of the dead are pouring in from who knows where and never broke apart on the way while attacking a kingdom where everyone stays put to fight instead of regrouping in more fortified positions. I'm not saying your wrong about your opinion, but your story lacks backbone to be used as an example or to be straight to the point.
The best way to fight them that way would be get in an ally and make a bottle neck so they can't over take you. Also IMHO I think leather would make the best modern armor. It's fairly light and you woulnt over heat to much in it.
When it comes to formations, I prefer the column or line. Its the easiest to control, particularly if team members stand close to one another. If I'm going toe-to-toe and have a large group, I might opt to employ the box formation. This formation provides protection in all directions, and can change directions without having team members adjust their position . The commander along with supplies occupy the center. Thus they are available and protected.

Armor might be useful. However, I think its more important to conserve energy and resources. Taking the fight to zombies could prove costly on personnel, equipment, and weapons. Exhaustion is a big problem. Even fit people will get tired of fighting off zombies. Once fatigue sets in you get weaker and can have trouble thinking. Additionally, firearms and weapons can only take so much. Blades get dull and break. Guns run out of ammunition, and can break or malfunction.

Armor can provide protection, but that doesn't mean it will save your butt. Pushing off zombies can wear you out. As booyabiznitch noted, the end result would likely be along the lines of being totally screwed.

Horses seem like a great idea, assuming that one would have be fortunate enough to be able to maintain it at a healthy condition. Like you said, supplies run out, and horses eat/ drink ALOT lol

I don't think you'd have to armor your horses if you were just using them solely as transportation; I'm sure those adept at horseback riding could easily outmaneuver most zombies without direct contact.

Another great plus about horses is that you could always just eat them hehe

When z day hits im going to put on a thermals some under armor from my football uniform a long sleeve shirt and a longsleeve jacket. The truth is human teeth are very dull I doubt a z would b able to bite through most clothes. So id wear somthing similar to that along with eye protection and a 3 hole baclava dont want any z blood to get in your eyes when your getting up close and personal. So just some rugged blue jeans with some thermals under them along with tactical boots. Id basically go into the zombie appocolypse looking like a terrorist or bank robber. Armed with my mossberg 590A1, Ruger SR9C, Ontario machette, and my crossbow ill do just fine. No need for heavy, and bulky armor. Whoever said plate armor isnt heavy your smoking rocks. Plate metal is very very heavy compared to a couple of pairs of long sleeves and some jeans. Like somebody said before if you get tired n they pin you down then what?  You can wear 50 pounds of armor or carry 50 pounds of ammo....not a very hard decision.
