What would be the best mode of transport in a zombie apocalypse?
Mine would be an Air balloon, becasue it is quiet, flys, only needs small amount of fuel, can be landed any where unlike a zeppelin, can easily see if any zombies are hiding in it and quick vertical take offs.

Problem is, Gas is going to Gel. Its going to run out. You cant pump gas from most Pumps anyway without paying and clearing it inside first. Gas stations are probably going to be flooded with vehicles and the infected.Unless you plan on setting up a major cordon with connecting fields of fire (provided you have enough men, victors and weapons), you're gonna get chopped up at that gas station, a major choke point. Sustained operations with petroleum powered vehicles is incredibly impractical. Armor, Weight and Power will give way to the horse and the Leather Personnel Carrier (your boots).

My Group will be using semi-truck and a military hummer with a mounted machine gun up-top. we have like 20 down the road at the army base. and the semi truck will be no problem as my friend has access and the keys to a semi truck with trailer so we could easily carry gas and other essential items. Also the Hummer will be no problem at all, when it happens my buddy in the army will have access to them. So were all set!
Red-tagged meaning mostly if not entirely inoperative, or damaged.
You can't go wrong with a military hummer!
4x4 by far... One of those massive American trucks. Dam living in the shitty UK cant get fuck all like that haha.
Ok fine, were gonna dream big. No gas gel problems, nothing?
Two Words, boys.

JEEP Wrangler.
Bikes are good secondary vechicles IMO. innitially i would hate to be just on a bike. ill keep one in the back of my car/truck. too many infected driving around the beginning of the outbreak. would hate to get run over by one of those things.
'98 Jeep ZJ with a modified roll cage, bullet-proof plastic in place of glass windows/windshield, larger tires, substantial lift, front and rear winches/tow-hooks, modified engine to allow running off of diesel or gasoline, solar-panel mounted on top to eliminate the need to run the engine to charge the battery, a sump/water pump, and a non-skid solid bottom to protect the crucial components in the undercarriage. The idea is to take what is already one of the most reliable and dependable vehicles in the world and "pimp it out". As for internal modifications, get rid of the AC unit somehow and install a simple dashboard-mounted fan--it'll be more easily maintainable and free up some space for engine modifications and repair. Add a carplow to the front of the vehicle, and you don't need to worry about congested roads, but personally I prefer to just go around roads rather than plow through.

I'll follow up on this later.
