me i think going in the swiss alp's is the place to be i went there in 2009 and it would be amazingly easy to fortify most places as alot of places are up moutians and near trees for fuel and perfect weather during the summer to grow and stock pile food and in the winter due to zombies already being dead and have no warm blood so making them cool blooded they would freaze or become so slow  u could hack their heads of with a pen knife and dont worry since its swisserland theirs pleanty of swiss army knifes to go around

This weekend I found a place where stuff comes in by train and is loaded into trucks. This place is massive and off the beaten path. There's like one old guy in a golf cart watching the whole place on the weekend. Problem with places like that is anyone that works there, or pulls a load out of there probably has blabed about it to firends and family. Still worth a shot.
And if they aren't prepared with a plan they'll be at Wal MArt or Joe Schmoe Sporting goods with all the other zeds.
If there are any sign's of the coming outbreak i might try to get to Alaska. If im lucky zombie's wont be able to stand the cold and die.
Alaska is far, and you'd have to go through Canada if you are driving/walking. I'd pick someplace closer to your location with a low population and away from major cities.

The one thing I like about my location, is you can only get into the Valley by a few select mountain passes. Crossing the Rockies on foot is one hell of a feat if you aren't using the roads, let alone if you are a slow moving Zed. Some of those mountains are straight up and down, you'd have to be using ropes, axes and other tools to climb up them. Plus, you'd meet the bears, mountain lions, etc along the way.

I think the only way Zed could find their way in here would be if the infected came in from prior to turning. Otherwise, it would be pretty easy to seal off the passes and guard them.
barns, you can baracade with rows of hay baills from the inside and wire and board up the outside, just make sure to make several passage ways within, always giving you options just in case.and you could make a living quarter in the loft also.........and if everything else fails lettem in and burn it down
an abandoned prison
Aircraft carrier, now there are some possibilities!
