Basically i have read a couple of different scenarios about what weapon would be best. I am going with a shotgun. Its unmatched all around. The rounds are easy to find and cheap to buy. The shotgun is easy to maintain. Plus it can make a great bludgeoning weapon when ammo is out. It is also easy to re-load. I also like a M-16 type rifle. It holds many rounds in a easy to reload magazine approx 30 rounds. The bullets are easy to make and reload. they have ok stopping power. You are able to send many rounds down range. It has been proven in combat and mostly you can upgrade it.

One must always have a side arm. I prefer a .40 cal pistol. It holds more rounds than a .45 and way more stopping power than a b.s. 9mm. It has stopping power close to a .45 but the drop off to bullet gained ratio is not much so i go with a .40.

I think that if you say "Sniper Rifle" You are truly a retard! Unless you are a trained professional sniper (and I'm guessing you're not) then dont use it. Even with trained snipers who have had this discussion with me have said that they dont think that it has a place in door to door zombie combat survival. Its way too complicated and not feasible. Sniping should be reserved for a fortified position where your distances, bullet drop ratio, elevation, angle of the shot, your rifle 'dope' are standard and known. Then, all you have to do is add in your wind and barometric pressure (depending on the distance). Sniping a head shot on a still target is hard enough then add in all the other variables, next to impossible for the lay-person. See my blog that i wrote in response to an IDIOT who said that he'd use a 'sniper rifle'. I have too much respect for REAL snipers and know enough about it to assume that I can just put the cross hairs on a zack and just pull the trigger. Sniping is NOTHING like in the video games. Get that through your head! Again I am only talking to a small majority on here. The majority of you all have pretty good heads on your shoulders and are smart. You are constantly surprising me with your ideas. I'm basically talking to the pre-pubescent males who play too many video games and seen too many movies.

Oh yeah. You need a primary weapon. If you just have a bat or a crow bar you'll tire yourself out too much too quickly. Its great if thats all you have or if it's your back up weapon but not a primary.

I want to know what you thing about primary weapons, side arms, and reserve weapons and when you should have them or have them all around or with you. What do you think?

FOOTBALL PUNT FTFW!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd use a Steyr ACR provided I could find enough ammunition for it, else I'd use a Steyr AUG.

Melee weapon would be a crowbar or a mace plus a 30 inch ASP baton.

Shark Suit for armor...
Sounds great. Remember if you cant find your own ammo you can always load your own. You should look into reloading your own bullets. Its cheaper than buying them. Plus you can stock up on supplies and make tons of bullets in your own home for the zombie apocalypse. Thats what i'm doing! Making my own bullets also gives one something to do to break the monotony of apocalyptic living and it makes you feel good that you made something.

KUDOS On the the ASP baton. I didnt think of that but i like it!
The plastic casing used in the ACR rounds would make it extremely hard to make them, but the AUG uses a nice little 5.56 though.

And yah, the ASP baton would be great for zombie skull crushing.
But would a blunt instrument really cause enough damage? Most deaths from head bludgeoning are caused by sub-dural haematomas (bleeding from the brain). Zombies are dead, therefore no bloodflow, so any blunt attack would need to be catastrophic (destroying the skull and brain would take wither a heavy hammer type attack, or repeated heavy blows from a crowbar or ASP or similar). With a blunt insturment, your best point of attack is the neck. Sever the spinal cord, and yes, the thing will still be alive, but unable to move anything apart from it's mouth, at which point a coup de grace could easily be arranged with a couple of heavy stamps.
I agree about a blunt instrument. I like the asp the best since I feel that a blunt instrument is a last resort and basically not worth it. And we dont know how 'dead' the zombies are going to be. They might be alive but just infected like in 28 days later. In this instance, a sub-dural hematoma would do but a epidural-hematoma would be better since the the epidural space in the meninges of the brain is arterial. Of course, targeting the arterial blood flow in the epidural space as opposed to the sub-dural space is impossible to purposely hit. Actually most deaths from head trauma come from epidural hematomas since arterial bleeds are faster then venus bleeding.

There are other ways to kill said zombie with blunt trauma. Severing the brain stem particularly from the Atlas (C-1 or the first bone in the cervical vertebra) to C-4 and down to C-7 will damage the Pons of the brain which will stop all basic life functions in a "living Zombie" Any other type of Zombie and even a 'living zombie' might or might not respond to blunt trauma. I prefer a shotgun, but, hey! For the sake of argument, i went with it. I'm also a medic and soon to be going to school for pre-med. I like that you brought cervical hematomas into the conversation! Most people dont think that way! And you are right...assuming the zombies are dead. I'm sure we dont need to get into the other types of head injuries caused by blunt trauma.

Fuller! Thats what its called. I forgot and honestly I was too lazy to google it. I was also taught in the Marines that that is one of the purposes of a fuller. I have since stuck my knife in 'parts' of 'things' and find that the fuller does help. I have also crosschecked with other vets and they agree that a fuller server dual purposes.
there is a better baton then an asp its bigger in diamiter and wont bend like an asp will winchester made it for a while it seems like a company called defense products makes it now, asp does have that cool little mirror for peacking around cornors
Personally I think I would go with a katana and a .45 caliber handgun or submachine gun like the UMP. They're hard-hitting rounds and provide enough stopping power to kill a zombie in one hit. 5.56 rounds are too light-weight and will provide way too much penetration. A round like that would be good in only a large crowd of zombies and even then I'd probably find another way around. .40 caliber rounds are good as someone here has pointed out, but they are quite rare to find often trumped by heavier-hitting rounds or the smaller more common .38.
Duly noted.. Thanks!
I believe the Ideal weapons would be items that are light and easy to use.
1. The Knight Arms MasterKey. M-4 .223 on top and Remington 870 12 gauge on the bottom.
2. Twin Glock 21 pistols. 45 acp
3. a heavy blade knife preferably with finger guards

The above items would be the ideal ones for me. Things aren't always ideal. I've fired a lot of different guns. rifles, shotguns and handguns. I have fired many different calibers. .223, 7.62, 45 acp, 45 colt, 9mm, 40 S&W, 357 mag, 38 spec. 380 acp, .22lr and short. 12 gauge, 16 gauge, 20 gauge and .410. they are all effective and have their uses. I currently carry a Glock 30 on duty. It is a compact and is easily covered by a sport coat or jacket. If I'm on the run I'm likely going to have the weapons I currently own. I can count 13 guns. I think. The weapons I'd actually carry on my body are 2 .45 colt Single Action Army Uberti pistols. I would take a rifle/carbine that I could shoot the same ammo as the pistols. That would be another replica of an old gun, a .45 colt Uberti replica of a Henry 1860 lever gun. A simple 12 gauge shoutgun would be my choice. Simple in the least moving parts to break. I own an old style 12 gauge coachgun. I'd also have a decent heavy blade knife. Yeah they are old and not very high capacity but they are simple to use and don't have as many moving parts to break as more modern firearms.
