This issue nibbled at my brain a lot whenever I think of a Z Apocalypse.
The person with cardio issues (unable to breath right after walking or running, unable to even run because of heart palpitations and pain, anxiety.. etc) You do not need to have serious heart issues. You do not need to be overweight. Cardio issues can occur due to how you probably live your life. Unhealthy diet, not a lot of exercise. You'd know you have cardio issues when you can't even blowing into a bag.. your capacity in doing so will betray you.
Now this can be you, while you are trying to survive the Infection. You need to stay with your team and keep up with them as you run away from the Infected or traveling around looking for a better shelter for you and your team. There is only one issue here, you will slow them down. You will either end up rushed by a horde because you're damn slow, or they will end up leaving you behind.
You don't know if the team you're gonna end up with will be taking care of you because it's not like you are participating in a scavenger hunt event. This is the Apocalypse and human nature is evil no matter how human we might appear to be when surrounded by zombies. People will think of themselves first before anyone else.
Now, i'd like it if we can discuss ideas and maybe come up with something to prepare us if this ever happens to us. Bring along with us Vitamins for example.. energy drinks (but they might not be good for some of the bad cardio survivors) One thing is sure, we need to eat healthy and exercise that way we won't be put in a position where we have to stop everyd 5 seconds to breath because we can't keep up with the team. That way even if there will be no Z Apocalypse, you'd be living a better life.
But....
... Some people out there will continue living their lives the way they see fit. So what would you do, if one of your teammates cannot run, cannot walk fast because of bad cardio. Would you abandon him there? One thing is sure, you don't wanna be the Nurse when you're battling zombies because it is only a matter of time before they catch up on you and your teammate. But then... he could be your brother, he could be your husband, he could be anyone you don't wanna leave behind...

no one should be left be hind you dont know if there are any survivers its worth it to keep them alive ether way it gose youll die sooner or later
I love what you said and i agree with you 100%
Sometimes when i watch certain scenes in some movies or read certain chapters in books where certain people are so greedy they end up taking everything and leaving their teammates behind (bunch of examples out there), i keep wondering, why do they do that?
They don't realize that at the end, they will be standing there alone with no one to laugh with, no shoulder to cry on, no human warmth and comfort. But those who decided to help around and survive as a team, they will feel secure knowing that if anything ever happens, they can rely on other survivors and etc... because maybe they are the only survivors alive.. The very last of what humanity has ever been.
It's probably a dream coming through.. Humanity finally working together for survival, no matter what the color of their skin is, the language they speak, their age... This is probably one of the biggest reasons to why some of us want this Zombie Apocalypse to happen, so that we can get a taste to what living together in peace and fighting the evil out there tastes like.
But...
Permalink Reply by Zombie Gabby on January 20, 2012 at 9:39am well the zombie combat manual has a great section on easy exercise's you can do during a zombie outbreak in your safe house. i cant remember any off the top of my head but i would check it out. other wise i would look towards prisoners. when your locked in a ten by twelve room for 12 hours a day with very little to do but work out you come up with some ingenuous ways of keeping in shape.
Permalink Reply by Chaos Reaper on January 20, 2012 at 10:36pm lol good idea cept its generally a 8 by 6 and they do mostly dips pushups situps and pullups
Permalink Reply by Suigeneris on January 21, 2012 at 2:11pm Don't forget the home made wine in the toilet for afterwards lol
hey that's kinda enough. work the major muscles groups no the individual like most work outs train you to do. the idea is to stay strong and fit not get shredded for swimsuit season. learn to use your own body as the weight, its the one thing you'll always have, till you don't have it.
Have you read World War Z?
Dude, the book doesn't make surviving sound as easy as we think. I think it will take more than just exercising in a safe house.
@saint.357. Good thinking. I myself never thought about looking towards prisoners and what some of them do to stay fit.
Permalink Reply by Zombie Gabby on January 20, 2012 at 9:45pm hey learn what you an where you can. there also really good at making weapons from nothing. i saw one thing on this prison show it was a fully automatic machine pistol with a flash guard built in a prison from nothing but pluming parts. some of those motherfuckers are resourceful, but necessity is the mother of invention, and staying alive in prison is one bitch of a necessity.

But in my view, and by my morals, i would like to think i would leave no one behind. But i cannot say for sure, in certain situations like this hundreds of thousands of variables come into play. What if's,,Cause a sprain trying to hull said person, breaking a wrist, get bitten, get double crossed etc etc. And it is hard to pass judgement on an issue like this with this said, anything can happen.
But with this said, you will be expected to work as a team. Pull together to survive, if you discard every person with an ailment, you will find yourself a lone wolf. And lone wolfs only survive for so long.
