Gotta get from new Mexico to Washington dc. I have a 1987 Subaru, but I know that gas isn't even a thought any more. I thought about a bicycle, but I would love ideas. Whether it is following train tracks on foot, or going south and getting a boat to dc. Any and every idea on how you would get to dc would be awesome

Okay first off decide if really want to get to DC, because you are probably going to die in route or when you get there... just saying. But if you really want to go I would suggest you move at day, not night, common mistake, and stick to back roads, I am talking the stuff that only barely qualifies as a road, dirt is a must the least population the better. Also check maps and try to use hiking trails as much as possible, I know the Appalachian trail will get you most of the way. God speed.
Bicycle to DC? Man, you got some cahones'! I'm a car guy. I'd just keep hotwiring them as I need them. Whats so special in DC that you'd risk everything to get there from NM?
Why D.C.? I mean it will either be taken over by the dead, over populated and ready to be eaten. Or the military will use it as a last stand making sure to get all the "Important leaders" out, which means it'd be locked down and they'd be ready to open fire on whatever comes be it a horde of the dead or a group of needed refugees.
personaly when zday hhits im either going to make a long drive to new jeresy or stay here but if your going get a rv because its a long drive to d.c and your going to want to siphen gas from cars and camp in the woods at night so you wont die/get robbed but think about it its got a lot of guns but they most likely wont let any one in because you could carry infecction or if you can get in its either a war zone or under marshal law. if you want to avoid zeds go to ontario in canada. theyll freeze
well if i were in his situation i would head for the coast and follow the coastline and just head that way till you hit DC,but why DC its a heavily populated area, wont there be alot of zombies?
DC and the coasts will be infested. The coasts are the population centers of the nation. More people more zeds.
There's alot of places a person can vanish in in New Mexico and stay safe like mountains and deserts. Who ever is in DC is probably infected anyway's. But riding a bike to DC? I ride a bike 26 miles a day, 5 days a week and that kicks my ass. So don't come cryin to us when the infected disembowel you somewhere on the highway, because you're to tired to run away from riding the damn bike. We have several survival camps here in the mountains of New Mexico that are protected by our patrols and boobytraps. They check you though for bite marks and if you have any they shoot you on the spot, that's kinda a bummer.

Task Force Amazon
damn i wanna join! sounds like fun!
If you're talking about helping Task Force Amazon patrol, just mind your manners or my girls will feed you to the zeds, but I trust you ; )

Task Force Amazon
population centers are really bad ideas
Why exactly is it so important to you to get to DC? Cuz if it's family or a GF unless they are damned good they are going to die rather quickly, and in the mad rush for people to get out of the town a lot of people will be crushed by that mob mentality. But if it is an absolute must i say screw bikes a car is the only way to get there in a timely fasion, or a Boat but getting to a boat that is not sunk or in a heavily populated costal town would be rather hard...
