Which is better?
Crossbow
Pro:
- Easier to use with no skills
- Compact
- Lighter ammo
Con:
- Smaller ammo harder to find to reuse
- Need lubrication oil
- Shorter range and less accurate
- Less cool than bows
Bow
Pro:
- Better range and accuracy
- Arrows easy to find
- Multi shot
- Quicker to repeat fire (depending on skill and type of bow/crossbow)
- Can be used as melee weapon
- Ammo can be used as melee weapons without bow
- Can easily make your own arrows
Con:
- Large
- Can't cock arrows
- Heavier ammo and weapon

hard to aim and fire but they can kill a zombie.

easier to use and fire but ammo is harder to find.

it's all reusable as long as you don't break the shaft. the tip can be gone but the torque behind them is enough to go through the weak point in the skull.

Both are pretty good but crossbows have too many parts which could be damaged. bows only have 3: limbs, string and aiming device.

Crossbow: More power than Bow but harder to load.
twice as accurate as a bow even an infant could hit the target, infact it's more accurate than most guns in my experiance.(Exageration)
Bow: amuniton is harder to make but easier to find after firing,
the bow is also easier to packdown and is far more compact than a crossbow but is worse in close quaters.
I've fired both and have yet to see a Bow that you can use in Hand to hand... please... tell me where you got this information so i can brutally murder the moron who told you all the wrong information.

I bolted a Boker Savannah Fixed Hunting Knife to each end and used it as a double sided sword, worked pretty well. Also in the Film Avatar the girl has a bow with a knives on the end.

There is a huge differeance between real life and the movies mate, i have issues with that, but interesting, i was assuming unmodified, though i would like to see how that effecs how it fires.

It makes the bow heavier and less accurate cos they shake a bit which increase the shock power

uh crossbows have better accuracy than bows, but they take longer to load.

I think bow are easier to use by anyone who are familiar with it or happen to used it before... But crossbow are pretty complicated in use (except the automatic crossbow). Anyway, both of these weapons would give difficulties to the beginner users... I would prefer bow cause I used to practice for archery on High School... :)
