Would anyone consider crossing their country's borders to escape the infection (before the infection had spread, assuming) or are we all kind of focused on staying in our own home territory?

I don't know about you all, but I'd love to see some Mexican zombies down south, because it seems like the majority of zombies reflected in popular culture are whites and/or Americans, with the exception of the 28 Days/Weeks later movies....but they were also almost all lily white.

What about Canada? Millions of miles of open range with only the teeniest possibility of meeting anyone infected. Probably a good stronghold, right?

It'd be nice to hear from some people living in Europe on this topic.

Canada, possibly. Mexico? No way for me.

All the crammed little houses and animals running around, militias fucking things up and all the other crazy shit. I know that America is probably no better during an outbreak, I'd just be worried about supplies and the like. I really think that going to Mexico would be a bad move on anyones part, saying that they didn't really want to go and didn't know much about the place. But Canada however wouldn't be too bad, with the open country and all.
No. Canada, probably wouldn't survive the winter. Mexico, wouldn't survive the summer. No I'd much rather be where I know the streets and buildings for aid and shelter. And the climate is one of survivability. Knowing me I'd spend 2 days in Mexico breaking into a grocery store just to find out its auto parts cuz I couldn't read the language!
BAHAHAHAHA point taken! Luckily, some of us know both Spanish AND Canadian (Yes they really have their own language...the accent just makes it hard to understand them) from living close to both borders. I'd love the Mexican summer, but I don't think I'd do well in a Canadian winter. I mean really...I'd have to learn how to knit my own wool socks and no one would be around to listen to me bitch about the cold or make me a hot chocolate.
The only thing i liked about resi evil 5 was that finally one Zombie theme dealt with other countries then america or "a random european" village, sadly they forgot the add zombies to that game so i wouldnt take that as a reference.

But if you want to listen to a european oppinion, crossing borders will be the only options for a lot of people in Europe. Russia would be an option through its climate and wide open spaces. This you dont find in most european countries / speakin for myself i cant drive through my state without having a village or city every few miles. But overpopulated areas would be suicide in an outbreak. Not only the zeds, but too many survivors probably which would fight for loot and basic supplies.

Oh yeah and i would recommen studies of agriculture, will be important if the last can of dog food will be ate^^
So where would you go, specifically, if there was an outbreak and there were so many towns around you? Would you just book it for the woods or something?
Only if you are familiar with the woods. Remember there's no concrete structures with locking doors in the woods and the sounds at night sound a lot like zombies crunching on sticks. Personally, I'd think twice.
Are there any "Countries" left? Governments if at all would be regional at best. The world is now your Country. I think I'll summer in Venice.....
I like most people would more then likely stay to where they are most familiar. You'll make your forays to scavenge, you'll have your safe areas. You'll know where you can go to get what you need. Initially I get away from the urban areas. My own home is 40 miles away from the small city where I work. Our Farm/Hunting Cabin is even further away. The plan is to get away to a point that we are as safe as possible and make our way back slowly and safely back.
Yes, it's a calculated risk I believe. You are familiar with your immediate surroundings and that is an advantage because you know the advantages and disadvantages, strong places, weather etc. If you move to a foreign place you run the risk of being caught unawares.

I would only move out of necessity and as much research would be done as possible before we moved.
Mexico is the last place you want to go to. The border is lined up with third world make shift houses which would make the civilians there vulnerable to the walking dead. The police and military are gung ho and are likely to shoot first and then shoot again. Gangs patrol the border on Mexico's side and would more than likely take your gear, and if your lucky probably just tell you to make a run for it or they may decide to shoot you on sight. This I know because I live twenty minutes north of the border. So Mexico would be a bad choice.
Well if I was going to go to someplace like canada I would want to have a giant stockpile of food and water. So i'd take my team and we'd steal some big trucks and mod them with sheetmetal to smash through zeds. We would get all our guns and ammo together and go around raiding places for food water and gas. Once we have enough to last us a few years. We would fill up and head for canada. Find a strongehold and settle down. It would be very hard to pull of but if I had to that what I would do. Canada would be pretty safe.
My evac plan involves Canada, because there are massive areas of territory that you won't see any other people in for hundreds of miles. Thousands even.
