Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on November 6, 2011 at 1:53pm No, any idiot can not point a gun at a target and kill it. It takes skill and repetition of movement. Moving targets are a whole different story. Not every idiot can be on an entry team, not every idiot can be a sniper. Lets just say you're going to have a much better chance of surviving a swarm of zeds from 50 to 100 yards away then you will in their midst. That can't be denied. I've got blades for back up but they aren't my primary weapons. You won't always be dealing with zeds in a Zpoc. Sometimes you'll be dealing with people who won't allow you to get within 50 to 100 yards. Your best weapon is your head. Your head should be telling you to keep your distance. A BOV (Bug Out Vehicle for the uneducated) is also about keeping your distance.
Remember to put a big K or S on your forehead, if a sword or katana is going to be your primary weapon, so we know what happened.

Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on November 6, 2011 at 2:13pm I'll be shooting until the ammo runs out. That could be a long time because I don't waste shots and I'm pretty well stocked. I dunno if people think of dealing with zeds as a video game or as survival. If they think of it as survival they think conserve. Conserve ammo, food, water, fuel and manpower. I don't think to run into a herd and hack and slash like a fanboy. I think shoot and move, misdirection and stealth. If I can be stealthier by using my kukri then I'll do that. When stealth goes to pot then things get loud.
As far as vehicles go, my goal is to obtain a decommed HMMWV. There are a few out there to be had. I saw a crap load of them for sale soewehere in South or Central America but it would have cost more to get them back here then I'd pay for the vehicles themselves. There were about 10 of them but they were in bad shape. I figure out of 10 vehicles 5 working usefule vehicles could have been scrapped and salvaged together. I'm still looking. I believe diesel is the way to go.
By the way, here's a pic of the new aquisition.
Not a bad gun. I have to sight it in. Taurus PT638 in 380acp. Capacity 15+1. This is my new off duty, concealed carry gun. I had it to the range today and it grouped well but was shooting to the left. I adjusted as well as I could but didn't have the right tools with me to take care of it there. I'll make some adjustments at home and take the tools with me next time I hit the range.
I don't want to co-opt this thread with gun talk. I'll pick it up in another thread.

An Auction I was watching. It went for just under $2000.
Permalink Reply by Michael T. Douglas on November 10, 2011 at 7:49pm A bronco does look like a good idea, especially with diesel engine. Probably be looking for one of those.
Permalink Reply by Tori Luve on November 9, 2011 at 6:42pm That Nissan is too low to the ground to have a top hatch cut it. Maybe if you had a 3-4 inch lift on it plus some 30" All-Terains on it for the extra height, but I am with Prime on that one.
I am LOLing at the blurred out "Zombie Expert"
Squeegie for your windows?? Did I miss something??? Didn't they just PULL ALL THE WINDOWS off?? Oops. And I don't understand the reason for taking off the side and rear windows and replacing with woven wire. Why not just leave them intact so less gets inside. It takes quite a bit to shatter and BREAK a car window.
Also, that front "armor" on the front windshield? Too many square open edges. If you are going to take out a window, remove the front window and properly secure it
No rock guards over the lights, just electrical tape? LOL Add antennas to the SUV so Zeds and other undesirables can hang on to them? Forget the CB, get long range Walkies that are portable, rechargable.
Ok, ok, I know, it's JUST a video.
Carry a ladder on the top? Sounds like a zombie carrying rack to me! How about good climbing rope and a grapple?
Permalink Reply by Michael T. Douglas on November 9, 2011 at 8:04pm I'd probably have he long range CB antenna. Maybe even have a portable one incase I need to bug out of my vehicle.
Permalink Reply by Tori Luve on November 10, 2011 at 5:23pm did you notice they had a gas gerry can that they said "carry plenty of water" - in a GAS CAN? Noooo thanks.
I care 2 water filtration systems at all time. I have one that looks just like a regular metal water bottle only it has it's one purification system and I carry another that is about the size of a cantelope that can be used with a 2 bucket system. I always carry coffee filters too, in case the water is really muddy.
