We all know that aparently when someone goes missing, the first 48 hours are crucial.

Consodering this, me and my local posse of Z-day-waiting-enthusiasts have wondered what you would do in the first 48 hours of Z-Day.

We've come up with different ideas, that zombies would kill/infect most people in 48 hours, that they might start slow so only the "zombie ready" relise whats happening and make plans?

One thing which i am torn on, is do i rush into town (i live in a village) and stock up on supplies while everyone in a panick, or do i wait? If i rush, people might be violent before turning, also have to deal with zombies, and if its contained, how do i explain the stolen guns and wooden boards and tinned food? If i dont rush in, i dont have to worry about being caught loting etc, but i have more zombies to worry about.

So, my question Lost Zombies, what do YOU do in the first 48 hours? The example i want you to work from is you woke up to find reports of people eating other people and rising from the freshly dead, kind of like the news report on shaun of the dead. Also include where you live, village, suburbs, centre of a town/city so were able to judge how good it sounds.

I live in a city of at least two million people, so there's no doubt at some point I'd make contact with zombies. First thing I'd do is pick up my baseball bat and close the gates to my driveway. Then I'd turn all the TV's and radios to news channels. I'd then text a bunch of my friends, tell them to pack up their cars and head to mine asap. From there and until contact (at lets say 5 to 6 hours in) I'd probably spend the entire period moving supplies from the first storey to the second storey, co-ordinating my friends in moving supplies and furniture (to make barriers) and trying to convince my family that there was a zombie outbreak.

I probably wouldn't be able to break the stairs till my family could accept the presence of zombies. And they probably wouldn't believe me till they saw one for themselves. I'd bolt the gates shut (from the inside) once I knew everyone was in that was coming. I'd probably smash the front windows and board them up, leaving slits for observation/firing through. I don't want glass flying in my face if zombies try to break in. Once I felt I'd made my house as safe as possible, locking doors, boarding windows, making furniture barriers I'd plan excursions beyond the property for weapons, food, water etc.

Depending on the conditions beyond the property, at about 24 hours I might get a group together and put some of these plans together. Depends no weather there are zombies and how many, if there's tons I might wait it out for a bit, see if they die down at all. I'd be aiming to get guns, ammo, water, building supplies, canned food and two way radios in the first week.
Ill never put firends in danGer , for obvious reasons, (fear) they wount leave their houses or want to come in the middle of caos, ill meet them in some non-hit-point where we can head to some near and safe plaCe until we can get far to another country..
step 1. grab old hockey stick
step 2. know a guy who has 2 bows and alot of arrows, sure he wouldn't mind if i borrowed some
step 3. drive 2 hardware store, nuff said there
step 4. drive to army reserve barracks
step 5. over the next few weeks, use hardware store supplies to fortify safehouse at baracks
I'm just wondering if you are in the military because no doubt that if something like this kicks off all military bases would be put on lock down which means anyone who tries to get on base without military ID will be turned away or shot
Army is one of the first places (if hit by many zDS) to fall....
Well the first thing i would do, would be, call my buddy Mike up. Then check in on my neighbors, between the 3 parties we have a 6 man squad. And I'm not talking bolt action rifles, auto-loading and shotguns my friends. From there possibly get our families into one house, fortify and find supplies. Then id imagine a couple of us would play scout and head uptown to see who is doing what, and quite possibly band with police, maybe forming vigilante squads for civil defense. I'd like to think we could hold the town due to the terrain's tactical advantages. 3 roads in, north is the lake, all sides but two surrounded by woodlands.

I propose that idea for the main reason, we'd have no where to run too. Why run from one war zone to another, we'd just die tired. But if everyone is either dead or undead, my last ditch plan would be to hijack a suitable boat, and sail the coastline in search of survivors or sanctuary.
Get as far away from civilization as possible. If you wait till it happens to stock up, it's already too late. Your chance to stock up is now.
Couldn't be said any better.
Take your tent, gun and, tins of food. Get on the roof and hope few enough show that they do not topple your home. Shoot at will.
I live In Spring out side of Houston Tx...there are a lot of people...but also a lot of supplies to be had..since I"m gonna run into Zombies anyway, might as well wait, that way I don't have to worry about the normal crazy killers that wanna eat me.also it pays to be prepared before hand..If you feel embarrassed to say that you have a Z day kit just claim that it is a disaster kit ( and if a tragic disaster hits before z day your prepared). stock up on basic survival items now and keep them in a safe spot...make a plan before hand on how to act during a disaster,... then in the first 48 hrs since your already got your shit together all you have to do is gather everything up, call those you wish to protect, or in my case can protect you. head out to the safest spot near you and wait and see what happens.Roll with the punches(or in zombiland, the bullets) but prepare before hand.
fill the bathtub in case the water goes out, make sure everyone has weapons (we don't have many guns down here so we'd get baseball bats, cricket bats etc), drive around and get loved ones, get guns from 2 places i know, then head for an army base and airfield about 20 minutes from here. or walk, depending on how many cars have blocked the highways and roads there. i've had a word doco on the subject for a while :)
Well, seeing as I live about a mile away from my high school that's built like a prison (high windows, sturdy walls, lots of stairs), I'll head there. But first, I'd gather some non-perishable food and some weapons (I favor my cast iron log poker) and stockpile them at the elementary school across the street from my house. My friend and probably my most powerful ally has the same plan (she lives a block away). I live in the suburbs of the San Fernando Valley around LA. We have a pretty solid plan for the impending disaster.
