I've been waiting for a book that revolves around a soldier, a National Guardsman probably. His/Her perspective would be from the start of the occurrence, the chaos that ensues to the grim end. Some major points could be the initial leaving family and deployment, shock and awe, downfall, and the desertion of their post to find their family. As well as the fight's and hardships that follows.

Most books and shows,(even movies) only show the end result of the infection. Obvious in most parts the scattered remains of a government and military. But it never ever shows how or what happened in the beginning to cause this. Movies and writers need too stop using them as cannon fodder too a bigger plot, i mean for Christ sakes. We fight war's with highly sophisticated tech and armor, and win. Give us a better rep against shambling corpses.
