Permalink Reply by Jericho Syndrome on February 9, 2011 at 3:41pm your idea on the semi auto shot gun i agree with it could brake and your right about the 416 and the parts. i have changed my mind on some of this stuff. first off the mossbeerg 590(with the retractble stock) its 36"All together and holds 6 shots and i like it bc it does not have that paddle in the loading port bc i find that almost useless.im staying with the glock 22 but gen 4 is the beeter version bc they added a double recoil spring and therers little to no recoil now. and this is very important a water purifier bc eventualy you will run out of water and youll need to drink something clean. and for a back pack. its the eberlestock gunslinger pack bc it has a special space to store weapons and get to them quickly with out having to take of the back pack and it has molle onthe side cummberbund so all of your pistol mags go there amd it still has room for food water and ammo in the storage compartment behind the gun pouce and its very light weight. and screw the big molle vest thats way to much weight my dad actual worked for galls and they sold tactical gear (thats where i got the big mole vest from) and he gave me one of those small level 3 police vests ( the type of vest used in the movie mr and mrs smith in that big shoot out at the end) bc its light weight and provides some protection.and swap the 416 out for a ruger 10/20 lr (or a semi auto 22lr) bc you dont need a big assult rifle bc all your trying to do is get them in the head and the 22 is accurat and it doesnt go through there head it just goes in and scrambels the brain and 22 ammo is EXTREMELY light weight so you can carry like 1k rounds and it will be at most 7 pounds or less. and along with the axe 1 brass knucles so if you need to clear a house and you dont want to either waist ammo or make a loud noise you use your axe and (if your right handed ) you wear the knucles on your left hand so that if you swing and miss or your just trying to shove them back you still hold onto the axe and you use the axe as leverage and punch them in the face ir in the chest an these brass knuckles will either(if you punch hard enough) break there skull or break there breast bone and if you break there skull there probably dead and if you hit them in the chest ther gonna be stunned giving you enough time to swing the axe.

Permalink Reply by James McDonald on February 4, 2011 at 11:26am Let me get this straight, you want to walk around hitting an walker with a pair of brass knuckles? Im not trying to sound rude really Im not, but where is the logic in that? Ive seen alot of post on these forums about people and their choice for melee weapons. I understand everyone wants to have a last resort weapon, but its just not smart to go searching through a house with a axe and brass knucks. I understand that not everyone is going to be fortunate enough to be a walking armoury, but this just doesn't seem logical. First off, axes are cumbersume weapons. Most are between 4-10 pounds, and somewhere between 24-48" long. Thats going to be hard to move with in a confined house. Second, the brass knucks will definitely give you more power and devastation on a punch. The downside to this.....YOU HAVE TO HIT A ZOMBIE WITH YOUR HAND. This just doesnt seem like a good idea to me. If the idea of survival is to number one not get infected, your increasing your risk of this 400 fold.
I have an option to your house clearing that even if you have hand weapons will give you some advantage.
First post up outside the house, or building you want to enter and watch it for awhile from a safe distance. Keep yourself out of sight, and down wind from the house as much as possible. Throwing rocks through the windows in the rooms and watching for reactions will give you a good indication if there are walkers in the building. If there are walkers nows the time to descide if the resources in the building are worth the risk of entering the building. If there is only one walker, or better yet no walkers your chances of surviving with your axe are pretty high, especially if you can sneak into the room and surprise it. If the house has multiple walkers, its definitely in your best interest to look for food else where. If your desperate this is your best plan. Look for something to make spears with, anything that has some strength to it will work. Approach a window and try to take out the walker with a spear strike to the head. Im not talking about throwing it like hurcules. Use your dominate hand as the thrust arm, using the non dominate to aim and control the strike with(practice this for awhile before you try it on a walker). If your successful with this back away from the window and take cover. The other walkers in the building are likely to come checkout the noise. Once things have calmed down, and theyve moved back into other rooms repeat this type of attack. If there are no windows or your attacks aren't working. I would try to draw them out of the building and work your attacks in the open. You maybe able to bring them out one at a time, if you can find a way to confine them.
This is just an option, but its definitely a lot safer than using your hands and walking into the building.
