you havnt been to many small towns have you?
and to answer the question if it was the small town i grew up id no every nook and cranny of it and head to all the places where i can get guns food and ammo then head out of town and use the boonies to my advantage

RUN!! Head north and don't look back for anything. Small town are as safe as a large city, they'll come because other people will come thinking it's safer. If you think it's safe others will to it's like the "I'll take the back roads because the freeway will be packed" Phenomenon... My only advice is GTFO!
Go to the last place on earth any sane human being would go (aside from into the heart of the swarm... that's counter productive) The colder the weather the safer you'll be and avoid driving. if you can fly or Walk, take a bike or ATV(head as far as you can with the gas you have and wlak the rest of the way) You can out walk a stag no need to tire yourself out running unless there are runners... then RUN

Gather men and resources, consider options, then execute with extreme prejudice!
Barricade main roads with cars and placements of riflemen as guard. Because the 1st thing on the agenda is to secure the entrances and exits to the town,(make sure no infected get in) then form vigilante squads and comb the town. Squads of 7-9men to each couple blocks, sweep and clear each house. Pick what supplies from each house and eliminate any undead.
If it comes to it have a motorized sweep. ( Riflemen in the back of a pickup makin tons of noise, while men walk on the sides of the truck) Matching the speed of those who you've pied pipered behind you, pick em off one by one until non stand.
When said borders have been secured and all undead inside have been compromised, then you've got yourself a Settlement! :)

i think its dumb to stay in a town you should use towns to plunder the stores for provitions you need and than try living on a boat or a smal island without anny other poeple apart from the one you have taken there

A small foothold inland could lead to advancements, it's not their world for the taking, its ours. Tho i can understand where you are coming from, but id rather fight the good fight rather than hiding living off morsels. Sure it is all about survival, but survival of the human race is the bigger picture. Why live if there is nothing to live for but struggling? No future, nothing.

Our town is small enough to fortify and secure with enough resources and a group of determined survivors. If we played our cards right, it wouldn't be too hard to clear it out.

wel if i think of zombies i think of a virus like in 28 days later not of undead standing up out of the grave thats just crazy :P so i think if you manage to stay on the island for like lets say 4 years al of the (zombies) are dead :)

Islands are not safer, only safer, but not entire fortresses. Undead washing up on shore, Raiders of the Sea, or horrible storms, still chucked full of the problems land dwellers would encounter. With the inland in total and utter chaos, there will be more pirates, those on islands are the perfect prey.
With a town turned vigilante, armed with fortified borders...i doubt any raiders or robbers would be foolhardy enough to try anything.

I am fairly sure at least in my town that everyone would head north and if i had to stay in town for whatever reason (say a injured friend) i would try to get my close friends to help me fortify a block and only use melee weps like clubs and maces and hopefully the lack of noise will keep the zed from becoming a horde against us. We would grow food and use the nearby farms for the seed and if there are any left livestock. Also we would be trying to clear the zed out of the town and burn there bodies about a mile from town(the burning of corpses could attract zed) And if we run out of supplies there is a few towns bout 12 miles in each direction so we could go off and plunder those. I have no idea of how to deal with bandits if they come but if they do not see reason and dont leave us alone and stay hostile i would vote to kill em.

first attack low populace infected areas, giving you a solid base, then move slowly to the hardware store and gun shop, you now have a supply base. clear the zombies off the road with a column of cars packed with as many survivors as possible. now attack the hospital, use a crane if possible, otherwise use a truck and as much makeshift explosive as you can (napalm, gunpowder, dynamite, etc.)

I would go to the grocery store I work at. I would take all my guns and ammo and any other supplies I would need and I would go to the store. I would clear it of any infected and barricade the front doors where the only windows are then I would get to the roof and look for survivors ans try to get them and there goods in the store with me.
