Permalink Reply by charlie on May 13, 2009 at 9:32pm here's a handy manual that's pretty cool that explains in details about improvised weapons.

its free to copy, print & even resell, although i don't know where you wanna be linked with that kind of publication.
a evil little thing I invented: the Penny Bomb. take a standard cricket bomb and surround it with pennies stacked vertically, hold those in place with candle wax. on average it takes 165 pennies ($1.65) to completely surround the cricket bomb. rather than 6 stacks of coins I'd suggest a spiral pattern, where you build each layer offset by about 1/5 a penny to the right, in the end you'll have this pretty cool spiral pattern of pennies. the pennies add considerable shrapnel capability to a ordinary cricket bomb.
next, the cricket bomb. i dunno where the name cricket bomb came from. take a empty 12 gram co2 cartridge (used in BB guns) and drill out the little hole on top to 3mm wide. i'd recommend titanium nitrate bits for the drilling. once you;d widened the hole, cleaned it up and deburred it, make a little paper funnel and fill the co2 cartridge with blackpowder or a black powder substitute. do not use gun powder!. if you have flashpowder you can use flashpowder instead of a bigger & louder bang. prep the fuse, which should be at least 10 seconds long, 1/16th Chinese Visco fuse. it burns about 1cm to a second, so 10 seconds is at least 10 cm, or about 3.5 inches. make a little knot at one end and stuff it into the opening of hte co2 cartridge. it will be a very tight fit. wrap paper around the fuse, you'll make a little roll on the fuse-wire where later you'll stuff that bit of paper into the opening of the co2 cartridge. creates a good seal. i recommend hte use of thermal receipt paper, although mashing tape or regular paper will work. the goal is the create a tiny roll of paper just wide enough to hold the fuse to the cartridge. the paper should fit snugly and be held in place with hot glue.
for more clarification, you may also look up "co2 cartridge bomb". these things are like little grenades, use extreme caution when setting one off. its not a toy and can cause serious injury or death, so don't fool around with them or use one in a prank, it might kill someone.
if you have a 10 gauge shotgun, the cricket bombs can be hand-loaded into the shells to make rifle-grenade ammunition. the shell will not crimp, it will be too long. run the fuse thru the plastic wad to the powder so when the powder burns hte fuse is lit too. make sure (test this first) that when firing the shell it don't just set of the cricket bomb. i still recommend the 10 second fuse time to avoid any accidents, especially with misfires or hang-fires
here's some more if you have a machine shop and experience working with metals
Maadi-Griffin used to sell plans for rifles and handguns prior to their shut down by the US government, the government destroyed nearly all Maadi-Griffin weapons &plan, so this manual was quite hard to find.
this particular manual describes in detail how to manufacture your own Maadi Griffin .50 BMG single shot carbine and a .50 BMG single shot handgun. contains detailed instructions and data about exactly how to machine each part, as well as where you can go to find the materials needed.
Yes, these plans are for real
and people have made rifles & handgun from the plans. some people still own a maadi griffin rifle or pistol.
