Hey, i'm thinking of putting together a short zombie film, about me and maybe 5 guys after evac has moved most of the people from the area, and we're training at my place and figuring out our next move, going out a couple of times to scavenge stuff etc.

So, in that situation, what would you guys talk about?

What do you talk about now? Zeds, guns, people, equipment, food, family and friends. Safer places to be. You can look at the subjects in all the threads and find plenty.
true, i like the beer and the hot chick etc chat, and the family thing was definitely on the cards. equipment, friends and safe places look good too. keep 'em coming guys :)
Food, sex, cars.
make sure you secure a safespot
already got one ma man, the story starts at my place which was cut into a cliff, on a big hill with a cliff face behind us. evac came and went, and we're plotting our escape and getting ready to leave.

As for the silly conversations toad, i was thinking of having quite a bit of improv, it feels a bit more real to me when you have to react to a random course of conversation, and only scripting a few critical story parts, e.g. my character admitting that he killed his dad after he got bitten but before he turned, stuff like that. nicknames definitely have to come up too. so are you a vet toad?
definitely, i've got a list of ideas or stuff that i want included in each exchange and in each scene, e.g. that one of the survivors kills his dad who has been bitten, but before he turned, so justified murder under cover of the outbreak, stuff like that. i'll end up writing a tentative script, but just table read it with the guys and really ask what they would feel more comfortable with. cheers bg :)
songs, people have their own theme songs they bring with them in situations like this, or movie references (kinda like what Papa mentioned)

Also, idiot ideas that get shot down by the rest of the group, and then actually get used and work to everyone's amazement.

And catch phrases within the group that references back to a prior event - people do it all the time.
ah, theme songs are a great idea, and the idea being shot down definitely gives some depth and circular fulfilment to the story. the catch phrase is a must :) thanks for that tori
i'm afraid i'm not in the know...
ok, a little sidetracked, but if the definition of a ripit wasn't in there i have no idea what it means.
i like the whole girls, beer and talk of how things use to be conversaion.
and i guess in a situation where the outbreak started 13 days ago and evac stopped 3 days ago, there isn't much else to talk about, you'd be so frazzled by society crumbling around you. it would feel more natural than full on battle plans (note to americans: very tight gun control down here, if you're not a cop, farmer or in the armed forces they make it very difficult. polar opposite to you guys).
