I'm sure things like cell phones, tv, and radio will become non-existent in a zombie apocalyptic world, but what about the internet? The government has obviously spent a lot of time and money to make sure it NEVER goes down, so what do you guys think? It would be smart for the government to keep it up because it could end up being our only source of communication.

The Internet is mostly a world wide network of under-sea cables. I guess if you had power and you knew what you were doing you could still use the cables in place to communicate world wide.
Those cables are useless without the servers they connect to being operational. It like saying "This car has no motor but if I pump the tires up I'm sure it will go."
To paraphrase Gil Scott Heron "The Apocalypse will not be televised"
I dunno. if the servers are powered or new servers can be connected it is conceivabel that the internet can still work.
