So this may be just me, but I just wanted to share a couple of thoughts. Have you ever spent time away from this site, but felt that nearly irresistable pull to come back? I haven't been on the site for quite some time, yet I have constantly felt like I was missing something. Maybe I just enjoy being able to discuss all things zombie with people who enjoy the prospect of the undead as much as I do. My only complaint is that I'm noticing the same topics coming up again, and again....and again... I challenge y'all to be creative with your thoughts, and not just "what's your weapon (or vehicle, hideout, clothing, etc) of choice?" My hope is that through creative thinking we can better prepare ourselves for any apocalyptical event, be it nuclear holocaust or a zombie outbreak. Coming up with scenarios that we haven't tried hundreds of times will allow us to think outside the box and maybe think about things we haven't thought about yet. So that's what I would like to see on the site, if that's not what you guys want then carry on with what you are doing, I'll always be looking for new perspectives on old problems here.

What else is there but "what's your weapon (or vehicle, hideout, clothing, etc) of choice?" ? Its surviving.

I want to know how people would survive in a situation like that, rather than "Well I would find a bottle of gin, climb the tallest building, get plastered and jump." Specific situations is more of what I'm getting at.

As far as taken by bandits, well, it probably means you're dead sooner or later anyway. You do what it takes to get away from them. You're gonna die anyway. Any means necessary.

As true as your answer may be, I want to challenge people to give each other detailed scenarios and have others respond with a detailed plan of action. In all fairness to you though, I did not give you a detailed scenario, lol. But do you see what I'm getting at?
Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on April 26, 2012 at 6:50pm The means will be as many as the situations one is placed in. Being able to use your head and notice a "means" is king above all else. Even if you have a weapon of some sort, you can't go Berserker and take out everything without having the proper timing, knowledge and ability. That could just as well be the ability to slip restraints and sneak under a tent as much as some kind of hand to hand with inattentive captor. Evasion and stealth when outnumbered and outgunned is more important then getting the guy that initially got you. Live to fight another day. Just have more on your side when that time comes.
It comes down to being prepared. Having a sliver of metal between folds in your pants or stuck into the heel of your boot can mean a rope gets cut or a handcuff gets slipped. It might not be odd to see people wearing shoes or boots in disrepair and being held together by some knotted twine. Who knows if the boot really needs it. A decent length of twine can make a nice garrote. Or can hold a boot together with a blade between the soles. Frayed belt lines could be worn clothing or seams split open to conceal a sliver of jagged metal. These items could be found if your captor knows to look for them. They could be passed over by lackadaisical flunkies who are in it only for their next meal.
That same length of twine can be used as a trip wire in a choke point to trip up your former captors who are in pursuit or that small herd of zeds long enough for you to evade them.
I suppose those are the kind fo things your talking about?
