hey guys,

There have been lots of discussions about the possibilities behind the campion virus, about how the zombies would act and how the virus would be transmitted...  we've even had discussions about the possibility of mutations and even discussed how and why the walking corpses would last so much longer than the regular kind...

There's been artickles about zombie wasps and zombie ants  and what certain viruses can make those insects do.... Well i just read an article http://www.care2.com/causes/zombie-virus-drives-caterpillars-to-an-...

And it reignited my passion for theorising on the Zombie Virus and how amazingly complex and clever it could be...  I mean a lot of the time we get stuck on the classic zombie romero complex but the reality of a viral sourced zombie appocalypse has endless possibilities...  i mean imagine if the campion virus itelf is was fulled it's need not to EAT other humans but puerly to spread the virus since after all all life wants to procreate... even tiny miniscule life like a virus... how about viruses that cause zeds to know how to climb... or swim...  i mean the virus on the article makes the catapiller do something that it WOULD never ever do if it were not infected!!

just wanted to share and perhaps get others views and theory threads!!

I think that the virus fueled zed would be the most realistic and if any, the most likley to happen. Reanimation doesn't make sense. Death and decay is pretty darn permanent. A "mutated" virus or combination of viruses could infect humans. The issue with virus mutation is that natural barriers prevent this type of mutation and the fact that viruses compete and attack eachother. It would take the perfect set of circumstances to include climate and carrier agent to blend one or more viruses with another. I don't believe this can happen in nature to the extent needed to get the C-Virus but I'm no scientist. I believe there would have to be manipulation from an outside source in order to produce any kind of complex virus to affect a human. That outside manipulation isn't anything special though. In fact it is quite common. It is Man. Can it be done? Yes, it probably can be done. Has it been done? I don't know. I have not seen the proof but when it comes right down to it I have no doubt that some agency in some .gov has developed a weapon or "CURE" that wil do just what we expect. It will do exactly what some of our more foolish acquaintances want it to do.
i think it can develop by itself over time. after all we did. but with the outside source (probley us anywaay) would speed that procces up.as for mutation, its gana happen, things change, advance and adapt to needs for said host. also i belive that they may naturly begin to evolve and get smarter. not lets use the toilet smarter but maybe basic communication skills and laerning to hunt together. not saying it will happen any time soon, but it will almost gurrenteed happen. everything evolvs. im not a scientist eiather but thats just my rhoughts on that situation. and those were some wierd ass cattapillers. (sorry for all the spelling errors)
This zombie cattipiller disease only affects gypsy moth larva, yes? so it seems that a disease bent on wiping out a single spiecies has evolved from nature. When nature is threatened, it often produces a disease or new speices to wipe out the threat. I believe that this is how we are going to be destroyed. A virus will be chosen to mutate and destroy humanity, in such a way that the infected humans will die in ways that cause the most infections. This does not mean that zomies will be the chosen method of destruction, it means that humanity will have to face a life threating disease. It has happened before- the plauge, anyone? or maybe swine flu was supposed to kill us off, but it failed because we managed to stop it first. I agree with Prime-death is permanent. Dying and rising again has only happened once. I think that the people will die in a sense, but by going into a coma and ceasing function of most organs, all but the heart, lungs, nervous system and brain. The virus will only use these organs to move about, as the brain and muscles are the only thing needed to move, ad the heart and lungs are needed to pump oxygen to the brain. A zombie shot in the heart or lungs could probably survive for an hour or two, before the brain runs out of air. This is the most likely course that the infection will take.

I agree to some extent...  only i don't think the aim of the virus is to "kill us off"... on the contray it needs us for it's own survival.

I think the dead zombie is unlikely also...  as you guys say.  The idea behind the term zombie is one who is under the control of a bokor or witch doctor - the part about reanimation of a corpse was more a myth and part of the mystical fantasy which gave the "witch doctors" their power, popularity or notoriety depending on your view...  Obviously it's been proven scientifically that the heart and brain function can be slowed down to such an extent as to trick even advanced technology into confirming Death.  This is far morelikely to be the case with the virus zombie...  the reanimation is only seemingly so because the virus causes the heart and brain to slow down along with all other organs going into failure.. this would give the impression of death... however the virus would then re-ignite certain functions in the brain taking complete control of the body and seeking to transfer itself into other hosts in order to begin the cycle once again...

I agree than man is likely going to create such a virus if it hasn't already.  And also agree that we have come face to face with DEADLY viruses in the past but i do not agree that the purpose of the virus is to kill only to spread....

What i think this means is that there is every possibility of the virus mutating... look at swine flu... it took just a few months for it to mutate...

"To survive unlike plants, animals and other organisms, the only way a virus can reproduce is through a host cell, which it does by attaching its surface proteins to the cell's membrane and injecting its genetic material into the cell. This genetic material, either DNA or RNA, then carries with it the instructions to the cell's machinery to make more viruses. These new viruses then leave the cell and spread to other parts of the host organism.

But host organisms are not passive observers to this process, and over time a human's or pig's immune system can learn from these encounters and develop strategies to prevent reinfection. (example swineflu) The next time the same virus comes to a host cell, it may find that it is no longer able to attach to the cell's surface membrane. So to survive, viruses must adapt or evolve, changing its surface proteins enough to trick the host cell into allowing it to attach.

The genetic material inside the virus plays an enormous role in how quickly a virus mutates, which in turn can impact how the illness can spread in the population.

Viruses that replicate through DNA use the same mechanisms the host cell uses to create its own DNA, a process that includes a kind of "proof-reading" of the genetic material being copied. This means mutations occur more slowly.

Examples of DNA viruses such as smallpox. These viruses spread through human populations and were often fatal. But once vaccinations were developed viruses like smallpox were contained and all but eradicated. RNA viruses, on the other hand, replicate without a similar proofreading activity, and as a result, errors in the genetic coding occur. Its these errors that allow RNA viruses, such as influenza and HIV, to mutate rapidly from host cell to host cell, and make it difficult for vaccines and natural immunities to keep up and prepare for new strains of the virus."

These mutations bring with them endless possibilities ...  and makes the campion flu ALL THE MORE TERRIFYING!! lol..

1 thing, the virus will givin its way kill us off, it wont allow the host enough time to develope the intelligenct to say " hey im not hungry right now lets keep these people in a cage and save them for later" and even that kind of intelligence would take decades maybe a centry to develope.
An infected host for the virus will be run on instinct, seeing as the virus has no actual mind to control it with at this time. The virus will prevend most other organisms from invading the body, like one that cuase the body to decompose. So the mind will be reasonably intact as the host reanimates, but with the virus melting the brain somewhat only basic instincts will survive and some knowledge of its previous past. I'm not saying that the zombie can remember its family or past, but enough to know that humans are food and that they have spent lots of time near them. Combine this with the fact that the host is running on insticts to hunt constantly and that fact that it cannot register that it is not hungry, you have a killing machine that constantly wants to eat everything, but humans will be a priorty target.

Cool article!

Remember that scene in Resident Evil... The zombie dogs, those things freaked me out man!

In the end humans are also like a virus, so maybe the Campion virus was what we deserved! Maybe it was created by Humans or maybe that was what made the dinosaurs extinct, and humans simply reactivated it!

Now just imagine a Zombie Lion, with armour upgrades, and with a remote controlled adrenaline injector... and hard chromed teeth and nails. I can only predict which behaviour that will induce!

CHRZ!

i believe that the government will try to create a one world system and kill off 80 % of the population with diseases and flu shots (there making kids take them before school starts. its all just bullshit) and whats in these shots? poison, diseases, bacterias, and much more. in a year or 2 these shots will take affect and make these people sick. they will die but rise back up in the form of a zombie. the nerves in the brain will be shot and do a reverse affect to the thinking section of the brain. they WILL attack out of instinct for flesh and fresh blood, something there bodies dont have but crave for. but i dont know this could just be me..... :))

I agree up until the die and come back part and reason for flesh hunting..

I do beleive that the flu and the vaccines are all designed to compromise the immunity of the population...  THats why i won't have the flu vaccines and won't let my kids have them either...  the human body is designed to fight of viruses and bacteria...  all the extra chemicles in food and the antibiotics fed to animals and hormones given to cows to produce milk.. they're fucking up the body's ability to look after itself

Good thoughts, but if the govenrment wanted to kill us off, hwo come the flu vaccines have actually reduced death rates? Maybe your right and the government is decreasing our bodies natural defenses, btu you overlook one thing: governments=greed. greed=more money, more people=more money. Less people=less power. Government always want one of two things: money and power. If they wanted to kill off people on the world to save resources, why not kill off people in other countries?
