Land of the dead, fan or foe?
hi all i just want to say straight off the bat, i beleive that george romero is the master of zombie films but in my oppinoin he dropped the ball with Land of the dead, it goes against all his other movies with the zombies evlolving into almost humans and the people deciding not to fight back in the end WTF? im sorry if this sounds like a hate post on George Romero but i thought the movie was a bit too far gone, i hope to hear your comments/ responses Cheers, Gareth

Me and a friend just had a discussion about Romero and that movie. We both hate it as do most people I have talked to. But I think the problem was that Romero is a genius with low budget films. All his films he barely had any money to make, but a studio gives him a budget and a cast with some known actors and he made this piece of crap, but you give him barely anything to work with and he makes zombie greatness.
Just don't give the man money he doesnt know how to act with it.

Yes see it. Not the greatest movie but better than most b-movie zombies. Its Romero for christ sakes u must watch it. It also stars Asia Argento who is Dario's daughter what an asskicking hottie. Cameo by simon pegg and Shuan of the dead. Good gore fx to boot. A little preachy but i'm a liberal from the blue states lol, so I like the political msg.

You should see it. You probably will not like it the first time you watch it, but watch it a second time and u might change your mind. You have to look at the details to really appreciate it.

I think Land of the Dead is really good but I feel it is terribly out of sync with Romero's previous Dead films, so much so, that I don't consider it to be part of the same continuity with Night, Dawn and Day. I see Land as it's own thing-some Elseworld version of a Romero Dead film.

I didn't care for the ending as well. What I did like were the characters. John Leguizamo and Simon Baker had a good adversarial presence. I also liked the character "Charlie". He wasn't too bright, but he knew how to shoot. Loved it when the man tried to offer him an assault rifle because it could shoot 14 rounds a second and Charlie said, "I don't normally need that many."
