okey so my brother plays left for dead...(im not so good at FPS's i get skared and die) and thares all these zombies and thares like difrint types like witchs and smokers and tanks...and well....do you think its possible for thare to be difrint types in sted of just runners and the normle ones

All depends on what kinda virus causes it, most deff would be possible. Viruses react diff to each occupant of it, and who knows maybe when you catch it your muscle bulge out like the Hulk and your granted the strength of 10 men?

It wouldn't necessarily have to be human-created to cause mutations in infected individuals. Viruses reproduce by invading host cells and "tricking" the cells into producing more viruses. Certain genes handle how cells handle this "invasion", so it is possible that an individual could have a certain gene, or combination of genes, that would change the how the virus affected them. This is why some people are immune or resistant to some diseases. It wouldn't even necessarily have to be a gene that normally controls immune responses. For example, having one allele for sickle-cell anemia increases resistance to malaria. Even though malaria is a protist, the concept is the same. So, theoretically, it would be possible for an infected individual's genes to interact with the virus. That could either change how the virus affects the host, causing what seems like a mutation in post-"change" appearance or cause a mutation in the virus that causes a change in the host's appearance after "changing". If it was the latter, anyone infected by that person would either "change" into the same type of infected as the zombie who bit them or, if they had a gene(s) that affected the new virus, mutate into a new "form" of infected. This could, theoretically, once again, cause the virus to mutate into hundreds of different forms, maybe more. However, the former is more likely and the latter is highly unlikely. Either way, it is still unlikely that there would only be six distinct types of infected, or really any distinct types at all. However, I chalk that up to the limitations of video games, because most of the rest of concepts of the game are sound, including the difference in rarity of the base forms of infected.

Left 4 Dead...
Tankers (Fat ones that never effing die), Boomers (vomit on you and tag you to make you the focus of the horde), Smokers (frog-toung-zombies), Hunters (ninjas), Witches (Passive freaks that beat the living shit out of you when they wake up), and the typical infected. A nice crowd, don't you think?
Out of the Survivors, I like Bill the best. That's just me though.

It could be possible I mean Im no virologist or nything like that but say someone was allergic(For lack of better term) to the virus. You have no clue what might happen. They might just have swelling on their face or their bones could become razor sharpe claws, who knows? That and the fact that if say a zombie uses its arms a lot. The brain will direct bones cells to make the arm bones longer. After a while those arms are going to be HUGE.

Maybe, The virus could have an effect on certain things when the person becomes infected. Like if someone is a heavy smoker the virus could have an effect on the cancer in their lungs

yes there are many differet zombies everyone is infeccted differenly you could have a tank that cant live after one shot or a spriter that could get bazookad and live. it depends on your cell makeup
