FYI for any of you that may still be following this:
Basically this is taking longer than I originally thought. At present I have combined all of the different submissions (with the exception of art) into one document and have begun reading and taking notes. At present I am a little less than 1/3 of the way through them. I will make a weekly update on progress as I know several of you are anxiously awaiting word. For those who may have submitted and don't follow this discussion, please pass the word if you can. Thank you!

Permalink Reply by Laz on March 17, 2011 at 10:23am Hey, I've reviewed just over half the submissions now. I have in mind a definite theme/style for the book (something that reflects the lost zombies project and it's community) so it's a case of selection first those stories which are firstly, good quality and secondly, those which fit into the overall theme.
I would expect to have finished reviewing all the stories I have in less than two weeks (unless I recieve more stories from Bruin), so a tenative slection will be done then. There is a lot of heavy editing to be done with some stories though, no punctuation/swapping between past and present tense etc which I think will take quite a long time.
Depending on where we are at that point we can decide to either send to the publisher to review or, if the book needs more content, open up for member's to submit a few stories which follow a certain theme to fill in the gaps.
At this point I would say we have a strong base for a very cool and unique book but it really depends how the rest of the stories pan out.

Permalink Reply by Laz on March 20, 2011 at 10:46am I will need to make a start on this at some point so making a start now seems smart. Please send an email headed 'Contact Info' to:
lostzombies@live.co.uk
-The name of your story (no need to include your submissions)
-The email address you sent it from
-You contact details (full name, postal adress, phone number etc)
Infomation will not be shared with any other parties etc, it's purely for administration purposes.
Thanks

finished reviewing everything I have last night. Some of the stories that you guys resubmitted to me I hadn't recieved from Bruin so there are probably some more stories that he hasn't sent to me yet. But I think that at this point what I have is what will be sent. However I think we have a strong basis for a unique book on what I do have. I'm starting to look at how the book will be organised and then I will start to edit the individual submissions which need work.
There will probably be a request for a few submissions, most likely some kind of modern poetry and possibly a story which follows a specific theme if a gap needs plugging. The book doesn't have a tradition beggining, middle and end as it is made up of short stories, so I would like 3 pieces of modern poetry to fill this role. The begginning being a piece about the start of an apocalypse/fall of society, the middle piece being about the middle of an apocalypse etc. So if any of you wish to start work on these pieces then you can go ahead and start and jump the gun :)

Permalink Reply by Laz on April 10, 2011 at 7:09am I would say no more that can fit onto one side fo A4 when put into stanza. They can follow them theme of start, middle and end for each one but they can describe either a person's feelings during each part or the general world or society etc.
I had a sunny day yesterday and the stories are fresh in my mind so I got a rough order of the stories which I think works well so now it's just a case of editing the pieces which need. I'm not sure how long it will take to be honest, There are 20 pieces and some don't need much but others need a lot so it could be anything between two weeks and a month I'd guess, it depends on how many days I get to sit down and hammer through a load ot once.
