If a Zombie outbreak occurred what would you use for a melee weapon? I would use a baseball bat

I like to stay in a somewhat realistic world. I look at A Zombie Plague/Apocalypse as a natural disaster ten times over with zombies added. it would not be fun like a video game. It would not be a single person shooter. When you die you don't get to hit the reset button. When you die you're dead and your body turns into something horrible.
The look in their face when the chainsaw runs out of gas or when their "made in Taiwan" 220 stainless steel katana blade snaps in two when they try to twist it out of a zed's head.

Yea but if its not a made in taiwan katana and its a made in okinawa katana not only will it not break but it wont get stuck either. it'll cut a skull like butter, live or dead. Not that I personally like katanas like I said I use zombie tools, but the katana maintained properly and of true make, realistically, WILL be more effective than any of the items mentioned above. I hate anime. The day of the sword IS dead. But i'm a logical thinker, and I know for a fact if you can get your hands on real deal japanese steel (I know some guys who have it). Actually a real katana can stop a bullet. Although real ones laying around are a rare thing but that show manswers on spike was doing like a myth busters thing on movies and sure enough the sword stopped a bullet, not 100% sure what caliber they used but I think it was a 9, but whatever it was, I wouldn't mind having a real one for the zeds.

Come on now, you're talking about the difference between bringing a sword to a gun fight, and bringing a sword to a fist fight. The zombies aren't shooting guns at you, and a "real" sword of any kind may serve you better than that handgun or rifle with limited ammo.
In the event I'm in the shit, I want a sword in one hand, and a hand gun in the other. The idea isn't to crack their skull, just remove the head from the body. A head cannot roll on its own...

I happen to like the ninja/samurai sword, because if properly maintained, they can actually slice clean through several people. I believe the limit to this is 5 people- you can buy a 5-person ninja sword. They are light, easy to handle, and functional. Especially when faced with a large hoard attack....slicing through a few zeds at a time is pretty bad ass.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have a Samurai or Ninja Sword around but If I don't know how to use it properly it will not be one of my "Got to have" weapons.

Oh agreed, but it WOULD be high on my list. I think to be realistic, what my immegiate go-to weapon would be is an axe, just cuz that's what's laying around right now. Well not LAYING around, waiting to slice someone, but its easily accesible.
