I don't know where it all started but bottom line its here and I am sure it has spread to Trenton. Anyway I am an airman at McGuire AFB, myself and others are held up in the base dorms. There is still power and plumbing and our situation is stable for now, just glad those moaning bastards outside aren't inclined to learn how to use their appendages to climb. Like I said we still have power and plumbing so food and water resources are good. Food could be a concern for us in the very near future so we're trying to contact anyone either on base or in the Jersey area who might have transportation or weaponry to move us. We can probably go for weeks on the rations we have here but who knows when this mess is going to be cleaned up or how far its spread. Last I heard the outbreaks were only out West so this must be news to someone! Anyway if your not someone on base I can assure you that making the trek to this place would be worth it! Fuel, food, vehicles, weapons, we have it... the problem is just getting to it. We have a plan but we're stuck if we don't have some outside help. So who's out there that can lend a hand?

Dawn has come and gone. Its early afternoon and one of the guys found a couple storage cages full of motorcycle protective gear, which is great but there were only three pairs. Two were hard leather tops and bottoms and the other set was for dirt biking and consisted of hard plastic and of course three helmets. With this find we're thinking about heading over to the dorm next to us. We think there are survivors over there but they have stayed pretty quite and were hoping that their friendly, we haven't seen any outside barricades on the stairwells so we're hoping they just went through the trouble of barricading the doors inside. There is a center building that connects the two dorms (the laundry room) and we're hoping to maybe drop a makeshift rope to the roof there, probably going to consist of sheets to make the rope). We're going to try and go while the sun is still out so the zeds are easy to spot. We plan to smash a hole through the roof so we don't have to move parts of the barricade. The only problem we're facing is a hasty exit. Sure if they have problems they can jut out of the building and make for the stair well and attempt to climb over the barricade while we cover them but it would take them a little time, time we don't know if they have or not. The crowd near our dorm isn't that big but there are a lot of roamers and we can ill afford using all our ranged weaponry on them or the group if they come in too close so we're probably going to have to... I don't know... If we go down there we'll have to climb over the barricade as well... I hope we're not getting ahead of ourselves. I am going to make sure to tell the others of my recent 'revelation' of course. We'll see how things turn out and I guess since this has turned into my journal I'll let you know. We're only sending three in the motorcycle gear, I am not one of them since my job is to cover their return. Hopefully they'll be recording it so if they have to scramble, at least we'll know what we're up against.
Its the second night... Well, all is well I suppose... We tried this afternoon, to get into the other dorm. Once they broke through the roof they came back, chickened out. Its not their fault though, they said when they opened it up that, guess who, was waiting for them arms twirling and extended. When they looked through the hole down the hall they were able to see that there were no barricades set up, and that bloody drag marks were prevalent. After that they came back and we pulled them back up.
We had a few planes take off and none come in. I'm not sure whether or not to take it as good or bad, but bottom line is they left us. There was also more shooting today then there was last night. I assume it was for whomever was going up on the aircrafts since the commotion was at about the same time. It was two KC-10's and the noise brought about every rotting carcase within a mile towards the air strip. A few guys ran out our and the other dorms while I kind of just watched. Wasn't really sure what to do or where to go... I guess I could have headed to the shoppette but after some idiot started their car a lot of the undead came back. Since then I haven't seen anyone come back, even the two that left our dorm.

Maybe the idiot who started their car wasn't an idiot after all. Maybe he escaped, found others, made it home... Well, lets get some sleep tonight. After today I really feel like I was closer to the walking dead than the poor fools laying on the ground.
0320... Short erratic gunfire...

do u know if there heading to westwood
Ack! So I have a lot of news and none of it is good. I haven't posted in a while because, go figure, the power is out! I call it the big bang but I'll bring everyone up to speed some time tomorrow after I get some things worked out with my room in regards to security and 'emergency' exits.
Nice to meet a fellow airman. I wish you the best of luck. Don't go south or west. There are mega swarms. I'm holdin' up in Boston. If you can get to Mercy, I'm holding out there. "Reaper"
Indeed.
Its been quite some time since I have been able to place an update on my own situation and much has happened and I don't know when I will, if ever, be able to make make mention of it all. First of all, I no longer have my laptop, which has made communication difficult, it was dropped and I have not been able to procure a new one. I am no longer taking shelter in McGuire AFB, I have decided to leave the base behind me in the hopes of finding something better traveling by foot or the occasional automobile. Of course you are probably wondering why, but its a long story. I will tell you that McGuire is not somewhere you want to go. The mixed remaining civilian and military presence there have become totally defunked. We had it good for a long while but since we were never able to clear the base of zombie infestation and tensions started to run high once there was mention of what we should do once the food in the commissary and near by outlets and homes ran out became the topic of daily discussion. Also there was the losses of life when the freight warehouse was overtaken. Some argued it was preventable but bottom line was that, unless we could clear the dead off the runways, there would be no more efforts to take out survivors. A few weeks, some months back, we received air-dropped supplies, but the last drop of supplies was left with the message that essentially... it would be the last drop. This left an unsettling feeling amongst many who wondered what remained of the outside world... I was among them. A yearning crept over me to find out what happened to my family out West, and so 6 days ago I started my journey and so far things don't look as bad out here as I thought or it had appeared at McGuire, of course, the main infection was out West, but I remain optimistic, at least for the survival of the human race.

I would also like to take this time to share some of the things we have come to know about the undead and infected.

First:
THEY ARE NOT ALL ZOMBIES!!! Those infected through transfusion of bodily fluids are not actually dead when they raise from unconsciousness, though we would all wish they were. These infected types are especially dangerous since they succumbed to the virus while still living, yes WHILE SILL LIVING, this means they were breathing all the way even after rising up from unconsciousness.

These infected types often are mistaken as having died when they collapse, this is incorrect. Those infected collapse into unconsciousness once the virus has taken control of the brain, this is the final step in the process before becoming a dangerous erm... infected. It is unknown the course of time in which an infected bite may cause the member to become an uncontrollable risk, however it has been observed that it varies on location, number of bites, and severity (i.e. skin irritation or infection spread to main artery), like that similar of a snake bite, treating it like one, for the most part, works the same way.

Severing the infected area IMMEDIATELY from the body WILL STOP the infection from spreading! We know, we've done it. Again, treating it like a snake bite, other than attempting to suck the poison out or using an anti-venom, will slow the infection process down. Individuals who are infected and remain conscious will not be of any IMMEDIATE threat. If you choose to keep this companion with you and are unable to sever the infected area from the body, or it is believed that too much time has passed, there will be no need to monitor them closely until they start displaying the signs associated with infection, to include:
-Vomiting
-Light Headed
-Trouble Seeing
-Dizziness
-Slurred Speech
-Flu/Fever Like Symptoms
-Extreme Exhaustion
-Difficulty Concentrating
-Difficulty Hearing
-Hot Flashes

These are all caused by the parasite virus as it takes over the brain. Symptoms are not prone to occur in that or any order and some symptoms may never occur at all. However, do not let the individual sleep or nap, or close their eyes for more than a blink, once the victim has reached a state of unconsciousness they will awaken never to be the same and unconsciousness could only last seconds or several days. You should immediately dispose of your ex-companion through the necessary means of either decapitation or destruction of the brain.

Finally, why are these infected types so dangerous? The recently victimized have the capabilities of using the five senses of the body though, this may vary on how recent the victim has awoken from consciousness. Here is a list of capabilities:

-Functioning Circulatory System. Depending on the length of unconsciousness the virus will not shut down such bodily functions until it has taken complete control of the body muscle tissue which may take several days depending on the level of infection.
-Sight. Few infected posses the sense of sight since it is one of the first to go do to the quick lack of blood flow.
-Smell. This is the only sense that will stay with the victim even after it becomes a full on zombie.
-Taste. We've yet to see this sense utilized but I thought I would still mention it.
-Hearing. This is the last bodily function to go and is maintained by the virus until it can maintain its sense of smell through consumption of other victims to collect enough proteins.
-Feel. Another sense not appearing to be used.
-Fully Functioning Muscle Tissue. Until the circulatory system is shut down, this is by far the most frightening of its capabilities. This is why you have probably heard of "Olympic Undead" or "Marathoners". These Infected run at the full capacity of their host and can easily out run its victims never getting tired.
-Slight Function of Memory. Being that the virus has no use for this portion of the brain, like eye-sight, this remaining spec of humanity disappears quickly usually within a few days or a few hours again varying on level of infection. Memories mostly include that of functionality such as opening doors or climbing ladders. Memories of life experiences are short lived but will remain until this function shuts down, DO NOT for any reason approach family or friends or even co-workers who give that look of remembrance. Indeed they will stop in their tracks, run in the opposite direction, or ignore you completely, but remember they are no longer who they were and the virus has the potential to make such a short lived moment of seeming humanity disappear in an instant when the will of the victim ceases.
-Communication. This disappears with memory but while possessed, the virus will use the vocal abilities of its host to call more infected upon its victim(s), through the means of a loud shriek or moan. If you hear this close by than you have most likely been spotted and should leave the immediate area IMMEDIATELY! If you hear the sound coming from a distance that does not appear to be directed at you, DO NOT for any reason attempt to go to assist (unless you are well prepared) for you could be walking right in to the middle of a horde, not only that but the victims could already be dead before you even heard the call.

Now it should be clear as to how dangerous dealing with these recent victims can be especially since it can be difficult to tell if they were ever bitten at all even at a close distance.

Now, getting on to the real Undead. Not as threatening as its recently infected counterpart but still highly dangerous. Here's the description:

-Slow Movement. Can and will make short range lunges.
-Vomiting. The undead have little need for skin and other tissues that cannot be broken down easily via the viruses formulated mix of stomach acid. Vomiting is common for a 'full' zombie and is used as a weapon to spread to other victims. Vomit lengths (distance) are inhuman and have been witnessed of projecting a range of seven feet! Best protection if exposed is to hold your breath and immediately rinse off all covered areas and remove clothes (burn them).
-Smell. Already covered.
-Hearing. Again, not permanent but is one of the longest lasting of the remaining senses, able to be maintained for an unknown length of time.

That is all I have learned partly in thanks to my own observations, the deceased, those captured, those dissected, and those who lost their lives in the process of discovery. Unfortunately no cure is known for those who still breath only methods of stopping it.

Maybe when I have another moment to breath I will provide more videos or text to better tell my story, until then, good luck to those still fighting on.
