This is where judge of character comes in, it is possible you could be picking up just about anyone, and chances are that they may have done some not so nice things to get as far as they have.
But you may also have been in some pretty tight prediciments that made you choose to do some not so nice things as well.

The way I see it, If they've survived the zombie apocalypse, we all start from scratch. When they go and screw things up for themselves again, then you should judge them.

But you're right Cat, you should be able to see it in their character, it they seem to be eyeballing the children, how they treat the other people.
The actual percentage of the population that are criminals is actually pretty low, so your chances of encountering them among other survivors is rather small. Never the less good interpersonal skills would come in handy in interviewing all potential new recruits to your little band of survivors. I’d skip anyone with obvious gang dress/tattoos or just a bad attitude.
In a zombie outbreak the less law abiding person might be better. If you've seen the movie Pitch Black I'd want Vin Diesel's character with me (but I wouldn't turn my back on him).
you`re gonna have to take your chances .. besides if they are criminals before the outbreak i doubt they`ll be bothered to break the law or rape someone after the shit hits the fan . they`ll be too concerned about the zombies hammering at the doors. .
unless they are just that messed up in the head. i mean what i hannibal lector was a rapist..hes smart to help you get everything secure then when all is safe he decides to make his move...
I think everyone deserves a chance for redemption even if that chance only lasts them a few seconds with me
I would think that most people that survied would be a Muderer, Rapist or Something like that becuse they know how to kill and be heartless about it. The good person would not be able to kill their loved ones zombie or not.
that is so wrong i'm not a murderer or criminal and i'll kill anything that trys to kill me and most people will its called self preservation and it is the very basic need of any animal or person
yea iam going with josh.i dont if my best friend attacked me id kick his head in,zombie or not.everone has a self preservation preprogramed into their brian.from the start to the end.no one realy whats to die
Awesome question. Who do you trust and why? First you trust people you know. They are most familiar to you and likely have a similar background. You also distrust people you know. I've been a cop for 19 years. There are criminals that I'd have no problem joining with. There are others that I believe I would shoot on sight in order to make sure the rest of us survive. In a situation as you've described you have to follow your own and the intuition of the people closest to you as though it were the law. If someone in your group is not comfortable with a new survivor you give the new person food, something to protect themself and send them packing. You can do this without being overtly rude and tossing them out. If other folks meet your standards but want the guy that you don't trust to stay they all go. Stay disciplined and STAY ALIVE.

PP
I think PP has a good point. There are some crooks who would probably provide decent back up in a ZPAW. It just depends on what they were doing. A guy selling dope is not my first choice in a PAW-buddy, but I'll take him over someone that I knew was a sex offender. I would say anyone who commits crimes against persons simply for a thrill or sexual satisfaction should be avoided at all costs. That type of person is pretty much as bad as it gets, and you're safer alone. I am also a cop, and PP is right about something else: some people will have to be "excused" either verbally or forcefully to insure the safety of the rest. Good news: you generally know them when you see them under stressful circumstances.
