I've got a pretty logical question for you. How do you think the outbreak will effect the animal life? how can you be sure that if you go out and hunt for food, that animal your hunting isn't infected.  Something so simple as a mosquito landing on a Z and taking it's blood for nourishment  they flying away and dig into something or someone else. You could clean your kill and eat it then your screwed you would even know. It could be pretty shitty cycle. What are your thoughts? or even how could you avoid it?

Well, I guess there would be no way of really knowing if an animal was infected or not, without the obvious signs of course. So the only thing that you really could do is to sterilize the animals meat as thoroughly as possible before consuming it. Maybe in some boiling water/steam, etc. Who knows if that would actually do the trick, but other than eating canned foods, or MRE's, what else can you do? Good question though, makes you think...
If the zombies are "turned" virally the animals should remain uninfected as it is unlikely that a virus would spread from a human to an animal.

If it did happen vegetarianism would be the only option.

Unless there were animals that would remain uninfected due to their habitat. If it only affected mamals for example fish, birds, amphibian & reptile might be an option.
Mammals I think !
Like mad cow disease infecting humans or Swine flu ...
the virus become more aggresive and mutating into something worst
that could snapping reasonable living people into something savage, deformed and very hungry for flesh ....

H.T.T.B !
It does make you think, not only infecting food, but what if it where to take the same affects in animals.
A undead Grizzly hungry for flesh like never before is not something i would like to think of tho...
if ants get infected, we're screwed
mosquito are far dangerous cause whether they're infected or not - they still a type of deadly spreading virus carrier ....
That is true.
