Hopefully a good question, if a person is paralyzed or paraplegic before they are reanimated, does the zombie regain control of the limbs? I mean I would think so at first, but then also doesn't that mean that there was a fucked up connection between what moves that limb and the head before hand? I don't think the virus would repair it, but does it use different means to move limbs or something?

Well, if a zed used different means to move it's limbs -- then we would have skeletons and zeds with no legs running at us and all sorts of crazy things. It's hypothosized that zombies use all the things we use, but they are controlled clumsily -- making them slow and kinda dumb looking.

I would think that if the connection is severed or damaged that it would remain that way. They may just wriggle around on the ground, who knows. I suppose we will find out for sure when the day comes.
Agreed.
Zombies use all the things we use for mobility and sensitivity, so if the person infected can move the Z cant either, if the person infected can sew the Z cant either. their is no proof that the Z's can regenerate torn or broken muscles, ligaments or optic nerves. If they could we would be screwed!
Well, I would say, look at some zombies are already decomposing, but they can still move. Even when there is nothing left on their arm but bones, they can still move it. Since they don't need muscles to move, I would assume a paralyzed person would regain movement upon becoming a zombie
Actually, muscles are needed to hold together and help the limbs to function. The key though for functional body parts are nerves which send signals to your brain and back on what you'd like for them to do. =]
devils advocate
what if the virus repaired necessary nerves etc... that allowed for the limbs movement
hhmmm! just a thought
When reanimation occurs, possibly damaged nerves could be mended.. It's all about what happens during the reanimation process..
My thoughts are that yes, a muscle must be present to move a limb. Paralyzation happens because the signals cannot be translated from the nerves to the brain properly. So whether or not the limb will function depends largely on time the limb spent paralyzed. No matter what, since there was no physical break between the limb and the brain, it should still work. However, the limbs could be incredibly weak due to disuse during pre-death life, awkward as it sounds.

Educated Guess Conclusion: Limb will work, will suck ass because it was weak and unused before death
