Anybody else read this yet, or in the process of reading it?

(for those who don't know what I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Pride-Prejudice-Zombies-Classic-Ultraviolent/... )

I'm about 120 pgs. into it - started it the other night, but worked last night. I never had to read the original Pride and Prejudice, so I found a quick synopsis to give me a little background. I'm pretty sure the author was forced to read it for a literature class at some point, and thought, man I could make this 10 times better.

So far I'm pretty impressed. I'm not ashamed to admit the original story isn't all that bad, but with the ass-kicking zombie action added, there are parts that are LOL hilarious. The writing style takes a little getting use to - the 1800's style of prose... people just don't write or talk like that now, I really wonder if they ever did.

Just curious to get others impressions. I will probably finish it tonight or tomorrow.

I just picked this up and I LOVE IT! You need to read the original, be accustomed to the writing style of authors from the period of Jane Austen, and you need a QUICK wit to pick up the nuances of the new version, as well as some of the tongue-in-cheek humor of the original. If you don't get dry British humor or you're a little slow and uncultured, this is not the book for you.

This is just an awesome book that has me chewing my lip and laughing at the same time!

"A few of the guests, who had the misfortune of being too near the windows, were seized and feasted on at once".

LOVE IT!!
damn! you guys are harsh on each other! We're all friends, united in our zombie-love, opinions can vary.

I think that was the point, Buckaroo... I'm sure the original tends to get a little long-winded, hence the added violence. I will admit I'm still in love with the idea more than I am the actual book, but I don't think it's that difficult a read at all.

and Courtney: In addition to the line above, this one forced me to put down the book for a minute I was laughing so hard:

*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*

(and for others, you have to read it in the context it was written)
"Apparently overcome with excitement, Charlotte dropped to the ground and began stuffing handfuls of crisp autumn leaves in her mouth."

Still laughing.
I actually hadn;t read your post before I posted mine and it had nothing to do with you at all. Defensive much?
Yeah um I'm pretty sure all novels of Jane are "long winded, ridiculous, literary drivel"
hmmm.... did somebody delete their post ???

Courtney: did you happen to read the Reader's Discussion Guide at the back of book? It treats the book (in this form) as if it were an actual literary masterpiece. They are all pretty funny, but #6 was great:

Some critics have suggested that the zombies represent the authors' views toward marriage - an endless curse that sucks the life out of you and just won't die....

very telling.
oh, c'mon. you're fine, brother. if I could delete every silly / drunken comment or post I made on the internets, I'd be awake until NEXT Friday.

and instead of forum debates, let's call them - friendly conversations.... 'Coz really, who the fuck talks like people in that book? ever.
wow i cant keep on one thing that im writing for more than thirty pages but anyway i wanna see it when its done
Brian: I think you might have misunderstood my post (if I read you correctly). It's a done piece of work. You can buy it.

But, going along with what your saying - yeah, I struggled to get a 25 pgs. out of a story that was mostly auto-biographical... and ultimately, mostly auto-retarded.
i really liked it, must admit i'm not a huge fan of jane austen, but i thought this was a much better version. lol. and the old lady at the bookstore who was looking it up for me was completely perplexed by it. when i gave her the title she gave me a weird look and then when she saw the author was still listed as jane austen she said "this cant be right" she was definitely fretting about it. she must of been a member of the jane austen book club LOL! had to bite my lip to keep from laughing. good times! i loved the book tho once i started couldn't put it down :D
awsome!!!!!!
