Prisons during a Z-Apoc
If there were a zombie apocalypse or any other National security, what would happen to prison inmates, would they be stuck, transported, or what? I think this would be a major problem in America because of the millions of people we have as inmates.

It depends on the prison. most likely the inmates would be forced out and the prison guards families would move in to their cells. and speaking realistically one of them would probably be bitten before and just like any great fortress its built to keep people out. But most importantly keep them in so they would all be zombies shortly after locking them selves in. Remember the most important lesson from Night of the Living Dead is mans inability to get along and unite early enough to escape their eventual demise.

Interesting theory, But I don't think a prison guard would move his family into the cells because of lack of food, light, comfortability, ect. And where would the prisoners be put? I'm sure they wouldn't want a whole bunch a looting killing junkies in the public, even if there are zombies.

Really food and water for roughly a few thousand inmates, internal back up generators. Prisons are the second most fortified place during ZPOC next to certain military bases built away from populated areas. But i see you you are still trying to survive ZPOC with your current mind set... and if you dont get it through your head that your life means more than an inmate nice to know you, but i wont weep for your lose....

I actually read what you were trying to say wrong, I thought you meant get them out and transport them safely to where they would get food and water and help. I also for some reason thought you meant literally into the cells, with cells closed and everything. And I didn't know they had multiple backup generators. And I didn't know much about prison's anyway. Looks like you helped me survive man. And I have no "stuck Mindset' Because that is how many people get caught in bad situations and don't get the most out of what they could.

But there are many prisons and some aren't fit for staying at, some I would leave with prisoners in them or someone else to occupy, unless I had no other choice at a poor prison I would stay, at least have a prison to myself for the moment, but the government would interfere and would at first prevent you from entering and taking the prison for yourself, but eventually the situation would be too hectic for them to control and you would be able to take it for yourself. But don't think you're the only one with this plan. Many people would interfere with your plans. Always have to have multiple backup plans just like the prisons that have multiple backup generators.

you also have to take into account that most maximum security prisons are located away from densely populated areas where the actual zombie count would be lower and their desirable by all. but you cant attack it with heavy weapons because if its damaged its useless to the attackers afterwards.

some prisoners will be let out some will get out some will die and others will be drafted to help the military the crazys and killers will probly be left 4 dead

So many variables. It would be ideal to let those with minor offenses go, while having the more menacing inmates in a single wing. But It would depend on the guards and the warden. Maybe they would use the rapists and pedophiles as human shields or diversionary snacks.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, many different things could happen depending on the prison/situation, and rapist are the low of the low so I agree with you. Well, it doesn't have much to do with me, but I was just wondering. Thanks for the reply.
