And please forgive me if I missed a crucial bit of info that would have explained this already. Now then:

From what I gather, runners are people that were infected prior to death, and therefore are basically alive but without higher reasoning and with the need to feed, correct?

Assuming I am, what happens if you hit a runner with a human-fatal shot, say an arrow to the heart? Would they go down only to rise again as a shambler? Go down and stay down? Not notice? What do you think? What's cannon here?

a runner isn't dead, it still breaths, feeds, defecates ect. ect... pretty much think of the things in "I AM LEGEND" just not bald and super strong. But since the frontal lobe is slowly being killed, it will become a shambler in about a month anyway. But since, again, the frontal lobe is dying, it goes back into a more primordial mode and uses more of the muscle in it's body becoming stronger and faster than most of today's humans.

Yes it would notice and shout on pain if it were shot through the heart with an arrow. It would die from that.

And yes, when they die (supposing the brain's intact) and will rise AGAIN as a shambler.
On lost zombies, a runner is a person who has been infected with the virus while alive. The virus will turn them into a runner. To kill a runner you only have to kill them like a normal human. However when they die they reanimate as a shambler, who do have to be killed by destroying the brain.

Having the virus will not kill a normal healthy person, just turn them into a runner.
exactly
Aww, that's unfair.

So if you kill the runner he STILL reanimates?
That's freaking cheating!
