To be honest I don't think its a good idea. Because without proper communication and at least being on a first name basis with at least 3/4 of the group or even just 1/4, how is it possible to just trust people you don't know? Though I'm sure we all would have the same goal: to survive. Thinking that an actual outbreak occures.......would you actually travel the distance to get to where they may or may not be. Things happen. A lot to consider, including family and their feelings about it, accomidations if you can even make it and the fact that if there was even an equally safe place to hold up much closer. I live in Massachusetts and I can't see trying to get to Arizona or Texas or HELL even New York, which would probably be a whole new nightmare! Best to just keep it local and work with people you might actually know. Just my opinion though. If I knew anyone from my area whos thinks like I do, then I would definately want to exchange ideas and maybe see how feasible they are.

Rally points are a bad idea for anything but the immediate short term. Without communication and information updates, you could potentially be walking into an infestation or a fortified position filled with body armor clad zombies :O!!
