You protect your own. Too bad the store owners weren't experienced in what they were doing. They'd have shot the bastards while inside the stores. I believe they were arrest too but I could be wrong.

Actually I believe these guys were ex miltary, and I think that they were smart to stay outside to deter any looters. Cause think about it if they hid in their store they would have been surrounded pretty quickly and it only takes one nutjob to run up to the front of the store and toss a molotov into it and burn down the whole building.

My girlfriend's dad helped his best friend defend a store during the Rodney King riots. All Korean males must join the military for 3 years so a lot of the men in the riot videos are former military. There's a video out there of a grocery store where some of the guys showed up wearing their old Korean Army uniforms along with their weapons.
I was just thinking how the times have changed since the Rodney King riots. Back then, store owners stood post in front of or on top of their stores with firearms to protect their livelihoods. Earlier this month we had a riot in Oakland over an officer involved shooting that resulted in an unpopular verdict according to a certain segment of society.
Rather than displaying signs like "You loot, we shoot", store owners kowtowed to the criminals and rioters by displaying posters of the criminal that was shot. They hoped that the posters would persuade the rioters that the store owners were on the rioters' side. Nope! They were looted just the same.

That's ridiculous it seems as time goes by we lose our fighting spirt. Back then people would have fought and died for their business and family, but now they just hide and do nothing about it and hope that the looters dont kill them,it's pathetic! Oh and if you have the video of the grocery store and the Korean guys with their army uniforms could you give me a link thanks.

HaHa I love it how it's all peacefull and quiet around the korean stores, and in the distance the rest of the city just seem to be burning to the ground. Thanks for showing this to me Okota.

When there is no law you become the law. They are in a zone where police and fire are likely ordered NOT to enter. it does happen. And it isn't that the emergancey services and police don't want to go down there. No cop that I work with would turn away and let people hanging. I admire those folks for standing up and not being victimized.

Good for them. I'm glad they had the guts to stand up and defend themselves from these shameless criminals. In times of crisis we must stand together and hold our ground.

I'm sure it would be different if this were to happen today. During the recent Oakland riots I asked a friend who owns his own business what his thoughts were. His reply, "That's what insurance is for." I don't know if the business owners who used lethal force during the LA riots had insurance. My instructors, speaking on the LA riots, said something along the lines of "If your life depends on your business you have the legal right to defend it with lethal force if someone seeks to destroy it."
In all the footage I've seen the above was irrelevant. The newscasters stated the store owners fired on ARMED looters. In the eye of the law, the store owners actions were justified.

Insurance be damned. There are some things that insurance can't replace. Pride in your work and pride in a business you've built and guided for decades. I've dealt with vicitms for a long time. It's almost always someone elses fault. I've also seen victims stand up for themselves for the first time. You can see the freedom shine in their faces. The store owners and workers in the videos are standing strong for what they believe and the work they've done. I'd stand beside them if I could.

This is just one of the many reasons why I'm gonna stay in my house as longs as possible once the zpoc hits. Zeds wont be killing much of anyone the first few months, it'll be people armed with stupidity that will do the killing. These people robed a store to get...free shoes? WTF. So very pointless. How are they going to act in the face of the end of the world as we know it? It's going to be ten times worse that anything any of us could imagine.
Bottom line: stay quiet, stay indoors and stay alive.
