I still feel that the resident evil (or biohazard if you will.) series are very strong and just a lotta fun.

most zombie related media just sticks to a few keyparts but doesn't expand it much. most of those movies or games don't feed a lot of the questions i have. their biggest focus is on the survivors and their choices. " will they survive? will the guy get the girl?" and stuff like that. but i feel resident evil puts more focus on the zombies, the virus and the company that started it all, wich makes it more real to me. the background story just huge! :)

just look at the birth of the virus. first the umbrella corporation created the progenitor virus, created from an ebola strain. this virus is the base of all the other virusses.

next they made the t-virus or the tyrant virus. it will reanimate dead cells (and to keep doing so it will need flesh) and in some cases cause further mutation.

then there is the t-veronica virus wich cause servere mutation in the wrong conditions, but in the right conditions it will allow the host to retain full intelligence.

next virus is the NE T-virus wich was specificly created to create tyrants (super zombies, the best known is nemesis from resident evil 2 (movie) or resident evil 3 (game)) the zombie will be very strong and a little faster. also it can be programmed to follow orders.

then there still is the G-virus, wich in the right condition also causes a tyrant like creature, with classic eye-like tumors.

there are a few more viruses created in the game but not worth mentioning in this already way to long list :P

this is one of the reasons why i love resident evil so much :D
but of course feel free/obligated :P to give your own opinions ;)

I loved the third resident evil movie i seen it the 3rd day it came out in theaters and i got it the first day it came out on DVD
I for one adore Resident Evil.
Those are my type of zombies.
yet I felt disappointing how they disappeared in Resident Evil 4 and 5.
like... err. I enjoy the classic "slow moving" zombie or heck make them run for all I care, but I ENJOY the T-VIRUS.
Not Las Plagas- which is what the ghouls from the latest games have.
Now Resident Evil- the VERY first is a classic. and I wanted to see Resident Evil 4 and 5 have at least SOMETHING with the Tyrant virus..like with that sort of technology, IMAGINE the possibilities!
hoards of zombies coming at you, walking running, on the floor, WHATEVER... just the fact that they are coming at you and you need to outrun them or gun them down.
:D
...
sorry for the rant.
I'm a RE fan to the extreme.
I study the timeline of RE for crying out loud! lol =]
which I love too.
>> I love RE for the plot. just mainly the plot. Poor Raccoon City, but uhh.. I want to see mooooreeee ;_; but uh Don't get me wrong, I loved the two games, and even though they went out of the original plot, I enjoyed the movies too.
the original re was just great. apart from the crappy voice work ("watch out... it's a monster!!"&"and... jill, here is a lockpick, it might be handy that you, the master of unlocking take it with you") :p

but they got the rest right. you really had to pay attention to get the story straight. while playing you get the feeling that a virus like that could easily be made somewhere near you.
the little pieces of information you'd find in the rooms where just realistic enough to make it understandable without giving you the feeling you're reading a kids book. and then the zombies... slow but deadly.
and they didn't take it too far. the zombies weren't in weird places like in the walls, chimneys or stuff like that.
all that stuff gets you to crawl into the game even though the graphics were so terrible that they wouldn't even impress your grandmother.
there is a good chance that there will never come another resident evil game that will make your blood run cold like with the first 3 games.

but at least we still have some funny quotes :D "that was too close... you were allmost a jill sandwich.."
haha yes.
the remake of the original was pretty darn good.
Graphic wise.
and the thing that sometimes scared the person more was the damn camera angles x3
You shooting somewhere you hear a zombie, and you find out it was in the opposite direction. D: and of course you say "GAWDF*CKINGDAMNIT" when you wasted four rounds. ):
Ahhh
reminds me of the good ol' days. =]
I do love them crazy kids at the Umbrella Corp! Great discussion. And Resident Evil Degeneration was a great CGI RE movie. I love how they brought back familiar characters and had a videogame feel to it.

Side note: I have a Raccoon City Police Dept. hat. Promo from Toys R Us year ago.
I loved resident evil but they screwed their own story/time line, especially that junk about the NE T-virus creating nemesis as it clearly tranmits jill the G series virion in resident evil 3 which makes no sense as umbrella doesnt get the G series until the end of resident evil 2's timeline (Hunk special character) which is supposed to end not long before the third game does?

Also wasnt a fan of all this crap about Las Plagas, dont get me wrong i loved the games but i felt the whole Umbrella thing ended just as it started really and i miss the traditional zombies, also Leon goes from a rookie cop to some sort of secret service guy looking to find the presidents daughter single handedly? I mean come on i know its all make believe but atleast the first Umbrella/zombies/bioweapons games stories had a sense of realism and atmosphere to them, this whole Leon thing seemed a bit hollywood with the "lone badass fights hordes of assholes to save the annoying teen girl" theme and POOOOF there goes all the atmosphere and unique feel the other games had in a cloud of main stream crap.

I may be wrong but thats how i see it now rant over sorry guys lol
I've never played the games - I heard they were excellent.

The movies were far from it. For me they were too futuristic, too technologically advanced. I just couldn't really relate. It's just about having a main character who is so kick-ass because of all these experiments that nothing can stop her and she wins.

Emmm... I love Alice as a character, but the storyline is too boring.

And it doesn't allow me to suspend by disbelief.
