I've come to some no brainer conclusions on an issue concerning the barricading of your home. Sliding glass patio doors as well as most windows are almost a guaranteed death sentence unless properly reinforced

i agree i have those doors and i hate them for that very reason. but the glass is really thick on mine so unless zombies can use tools like in night of the living dead they aren't getting through the glass. pushing the doors off the track how ever is very possible.

For real, i also kind of think a good pre-barrier is a necessity. Having some kind of berm, fence or wall before you actually get to the house would greatly improve your sense of well being

Well if your bugging in a fence and some security gates over the windows are great. You can also cover them in a layer both inside and out of security film. It won't keep them from getting shattered, but will hold the glass together keeping a barrier between yourself and intruders both living and none.

you just now figure that out? Suprised your still here lol

Since its the weakest part of your house it seems like something that shouldnt be overlooked or undermentioned. That security film is pretty awesome ive never seen that before.

I put it on the windows of my container at my bugout location.

Duct tape or clear packing tape inside and out willl help strengthen the glass, in addition to covering with boards, solid doors, etc.

Shutters that close from the inside and are oversized being bolted into the walls are also useful. I'd suggest anything "iron" to be used as shutters.  And, you could do the same thing on the outside.
