So there seem to be lots of people who want to tell me that the zombies are already among us. That the recent news stories indicate there are actual zombies out there, eating people, and creating more of their kind. They tell me the "government" is suppressing evidence, and that they won't tell us anything of value until it is too late. That we are more or less left to our own devices to determine when to take action. At least some of these people apparently own firearms, of which they seem extremely fond. I see from the rest of the "news", that we don't talk about here, that shooting somebody just because they scare you will get you a ticket to the monkey house to play volleyball for the rest of your life.

So. as thinking, responsible, human beings, let me ask, "At what point do you intend to open fire?" How do you know if the person walking towards you is undead, as opposed to say a disoriented wino, or a person with a disability or an injury?  Do they need to be an actual zombie before you kill them, or just appear "zombie like"? What constitutes a threat worth shooting someone?

Now, let's keep in mind you can't afford to get scratched or bitten. Even a minor wound inflicted by a zombie would seem to guarantee infection and death. You have to maintain at least some distance. The chances are you aren't going to get a chance at a conversation. Also keep in mind that going in front of a judge saying "I thought he was a zombie," after you just smoked Harry the Homeless guy, is going to get you laughed at before they send you off for a life of savage man love in a state institution. Zombies are unlikely to threaten you, brandish a weapon, our otherwise give you excuse under existing law for the use of deadly force. So at what point do you shoot somebody, or bust them in the head with your tire iron, or whatever?

I am not trying to be a butthead here, but these are these questions that make the difference between a legitimate defense of one's life, and appearing on the news as another deluded jackass of a nutcase who is going to the slam for the rest of his life. If we consider any of this "real", it is my thought that if anyone is actually planning on picking up a gun they should have a pretty clear idea on what they intend to do with it, but I don't seem to hear much about that.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Note the words "So what's you point?"

You guys are not identifying the point this man is trying to make.
IF there IS something going on, and the world actually starts going to hell.
How will we know this? At what point in time do we take action? And how do we deal with the situation?

Well I assume with all the waving of weapons that goes on around here, and the thought people seem to give everything from whether they have enough ravioli to what they are going to wear, that somebody has considered at what point, and with justification, you aim a loaded firearm at what appears to be a human being and pull the trigger. we know for certain what will happen if you are wrong, and just killed a deaf guy, or the victim of a car accident seeking your assistance. People who want to carry weapons around should, I think, have a pretty clear idea of at what point to actually use them and on whom. I am not seeing that here.

that's why i keep making it clear to people about the miami zombie being LSD, they all hear 'zombie effect' or eating the face and they start swinging fingers around without actual research about what it is that caused it, i just had two friends nearly shoot someone at the local bar parking lot last night until a cop stopped them because they mistook drunkenness for another zombie and then get pissed off because there gun licences have been removed, now they bought about five Axes and two Katana's at a traders mart and all this is because they have never seen what LSDs do to a person when they OD to the point of death.

i have personally seen a case of the 'zombie effect.' eight shots with hollow-points and about two shotgun blasts and he only died from finishing his burnout thirty minutes later after they gave him space. he even steamed after passing through the water fountain because it was burning him so brightly his eyes were gone when it was over. the reason Miami has gotten so much media is ONLY because of the cannibalism, not the growling, not the nakedness, not the multi-gunshots, JUST the cannibalism.......

back to the actual question, i think it will officially start when we get a roughly street wide event although the way the military and CDC now have zombie contingency plans, we have a good chance to not be able to put our survival plans to good use.......

Still doesn't tell us who we are fighting or when it is justifiable to start shooting them. What qualifies as a zombie? What qualifies as "justifiable" even if the only person we answer to is ourselves. You pick up a gun you make yourself the final authority. Might want to think about some guidelines.

i have the basic guidelines since having my first firearm 'wait until attacked first, give clear verbal warning, keep tazer in primary hand to use first, remain away from arms and face.'

as for zombie qualifications im going with the basic sightings of recently deceased bodies but still mobile attackers. or crazy voodoo sorcerers chanting at bodies that result into them rising up to attack the living......

I think somebody needs to figure out who the enemy is, how to identify them and at what point you need to be ready to use lethal force. If you start shooting people who are drug addicted or mentally ill just because they scare you or are behaving strangely, or appear to be in a "zombie like" state, you have crossed an important line there are people who will want a word with you about it.

exactly

i completely agree with you and what people also seam not to get is your seeing these story's happening all at the same time because after the Miami thing all the news outlets are now searching for these story's. the news is a business their job is to be entertaining so you stick around for the commercials or read the adds. i saw on a guys blog, nice guy but still he had a picture of a zombie and next to it was "bath salts have been around since 2011 and were just seeing signs of it now, come on people its something else." its not that it hasn't been happening since the drug came out its jsut never made national news before. one big event "goes viral" and suddenly ever news outlet across the country is trying to find a story just like it to keep the flame going. other wise it wouldn't get up and would stay in the local rag or on the local station. and even if these was the first time something like this has happened from this drug which it isn't. drugs don't remain the same. formulas change different things are substitute in batch to batch. and most importantly drug deals cut down pure stuff with different things to make more money. then there are the junky's themselves. mixing different shit together to get a bigger high. weed laced with formaldehyde comes to mind. so maybe its a new mix, or the deals are using new stuff to cut it that's making people go crazy. or its some new kinda lacing trend. there are a million more logical explanations then zombies. that's what people don't seam to get.

Sounds like Jericho was the one on LSDS

Drugs.

They wont make you able to survive 8 hollowpoints and 2 shotgun blasts.

I'd have to say I have never seen anything like it. Now I would note that in the James/ Younger shootout that destroyed the gang after a bank robbery gone wrong Cole Younger sustained eleven verifiable bullet wounds, and survived, and that was on a couple of double whiskeys and a chaw of tobacco.  I have despaired of asking people to verify the things they say around here. We are on a zombie site after all.
