Hello every one saint .357 here with another strange idea. now we all know that after the z-poc finding power is going to be a bitch. with power grids most likely unmanned and non operation big ticket items will be lost. unless you have a generator which I'm sure most of us do. i know i got mine ready and waiting in the wings. even then finding fuel for it will be difficult and they make noise which with zombies crawling around is a very bad thing. now i think most of know that we'll also be on the move. no way your humping even the smallest of generators over rough terrain. still even if your taking with you what you can carry on your back its likely you'll have small things that will require power.
night vision goggles,
holographic scopes for your rifles,
and many other small devices you will need or may want with you during the zpoc.
all these things will need to have their batteries recharged and how will you do it. well I've been toying around with the idea of incorporating some small flexible solar panel's into my clothing, like on the back of my tack vest, or maybe into this. my homemade Gorget/shoulder armor.
true, yeah i was sorta overspent when i were thinking about it.
found only 3 possible conical hats hits on ebay for around 15usd, but the metal part might not be a bad idea necessarily, not if its a overlay, and coat it black it will help attract heat/Uv rays due to it being metal and coated black. But then again could also use aluminal foil and coat it in black stripes showing some of the reflective aluminum foil. Thoughts?
@ PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR Instead of pointing out the obvious, try and be helpful and suggest things aswell.
or else all you do is smart assed remarks :)
In rural areas it won't be hard to set up local outposts. A shed here or a building top there. You keep a cache and stash in these areas. Also keep a solar trickle chrger hooked up to a car battery or a deep cycle marine battery. Yeah, there is a chance that it will be stolen or damaged but if a Zpoc were to come about most people would be dead or huddled in a fortified building. Use those rooftops for safe areas, gardens and solar chargers. If you are going stay in one area but want to keep moving it only makes sense to have a few "rest areas" set up ahead of time.
I don't know that I'd have a solar cell suit or even a solar cell hat. Somethign along those lines might work well but I'd be afraid of tearing it up. I might rig something on my alicepack flap. Other then that it will be rooftops and vehicle roofs.
well if you use the more durable folding solar films the kind that are like plastic place mats they should tear so easy. and yes having bases of operation with solar chargers would be great but what if you have to suddenly bug out or get trapped by zombies some where other then your safe zones. they idea here is just to charge the few electronic things you would have on you all the time for like bugging out and stuff. i think i'm gonna go with the conical solar hat. i think I'm gonna spray it with that truck bed liner stuff to give it strength and then cover it with a folding solar panel. and maybe attach a cheap plastic hard hat under it so it will fit beet and wont come of so easily. @Rj <pay attention to this cause i think its the best idea.
a Us based site which has solar cell film, sadly though for my sake they don't ship internationally.
