Something big is deffinitely coming. The media has deffinitely been leaving a lot out. Any theories and evidence?

okay first, do not disclude reanimated corpses. Stem cell research has prooven that a dead corpse can be reanimated. Although a rage virus is much much more likely to happen. If anyone saw my last post, I am a Marine. Now we don't have a "Zombie plan" but know how to react if rabies or a rage virus were to break out. Now i am in a infantry unit that is special forces qualified, so i will be going to school for that next year, and we have been talking more about terrorist attacks and rage virus. idk about everyone, but maybe the Koreans are making more than just nukes.

now we may have a problem if the koreans are making a type of rage virus. since they really don't have any allies, and are getting close to the breaking point, anything in their hands is dangerous.
The whole nuke thing may be a front. Biochemical warfare is by far, more deadlier than a nuke. the reason being that if you infect a large number of people, they will pass it on via socially. Then those people spread it and so on. They could do more damage that way without risking nuclear winter. Now here is another scenario: say they do launch a nuke. That would cause major attention and response in immediate invasion. Now our forces will be over there, and then they launch another so-called nuke which contains the virus. Our military would not have the strength to quarantine the area, basically leaving it to civilians do deal with it, hence zombie outbreak.
...north koreans. remember that.
Wait, in the U.S. military apparatus there has been talk about a biological attack, specifically a sort of "rage virus," or are you talking about the discussions on these forums?
A little bit of both. In the military there are plans we have to quarantine an area infected with a "rage virus". Also in stem cell research they have been able to reanimate a corpse for a few seconds, so the living dead isn't exactly fictional.
Really? Reanimated corpses? Just where did you come across this information Marine?
Where are you stationed at?
Well the whole point with stem cell research is to find cures for diseases like cancer and aids. They were tampering around with brain tumors, and they were able to have a corpse become reanimated, though it was for a few seconds. I have a few buddies in the medical field that read about it in a report. Now right now i am at the Folsom reserve base before i get stationed in North Carolina. It's a combat engineer and bridge battalion. I passed my test to be in a infantry group that his recon qualified. I just think with this swine flu mutating to a possible super flu, that just something is coming.
Do you mind if I ask you how you've come to know this?

I know you work in the military as a marine, but how would you come to know that the military plans against the outbreak of such a "rage" virus?

Do they believe it exists? Does it exist?
We don't know if such a virus is out there, but it is very likely to be easily made. All you have to do is mutate rabbies, and you got the rage virus. Now we have come to realize that terrorist are thinking more along the lines of biological warfare for two reasons: It's easy to make, and a hell of a lot cheaper than nukes. A rage virus would be their ultimate weapon. And yes we do have plans on how to quarantine the virus.

Now just to put this out there, a few of my buddies got into the medical field. Now they said in stem cell research, you can actually reanimate a corpse and make the brain a new organ entirely. There was a report of a scientist reanimating a body but for only a few seconds. This highly unlikely, but if terrorist get a stem cell research expert somehow, then a nuke will be the least of our problems.
Damn, the military prepares itself for everything!

Should a zombie outbreak occur, though, I don't know how terrorists could necessarily be able to successfully replicate that technology of which you speak (in terms of reanimation). Unless, of course, they either capture or have one of those principal scientists defect to them.

That being said, I think the most likely kind of zombie outbreak would probably be infected 28 Days Later style. You're right, it's very easy to make - rabies evolves on its own, and in fact, a new virulent strain was discovered in Arizona (check out National Geographic, it was on there) that was spread by airborne transmission.

If you think about it, that in itself would be even easier than what happened in the actual movie. In the movie it was the Ebola virus strapped with an inhibitor that did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. Raising bodies from the dead is a real damned bitch to do, but rabies can lay dormant for a while before symptoms come, allowing it to be spread easily (if we have an airborne kind). Mad Cow and Borna Disease Virus are also other possibilities.

I shudder to think, though I'm a little ashamed to say that it sounds rather exciting at the same time. I have no idea what I'm saying, most likely.

Anyway, I thought you might find this interesting:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/health/Swine_flu/article67... (though I'm not expecting the swine flu to mutate to a Rage Virus).
Thanks for that article. Actually Swine flu is a high possiblity. It is a mix of swine, avian, and regular influenza. It has a possiblity of constantly mutating, there for could result with the rage virus or something along the terms of zombification. It is one of the viruses that we are watching on high alert.
Well I know the swine flu is highly virulent and its genetics change constantly because it mutates so often, but I'm not sure whether it will become a rage virus. How could it? It would need to block the brain from absorbing serotonin or damage the cerebral cortex (which would have you resort to your primal instincts).

I'll take your word for it though. I'm not a virologist, so I don't really know.

I suppose though, it could certainly mix with the rabies virus if someone is infected with both, or if an animal is. The genetics of the viruses could combine and form some sort of "super-rabies" which would be the Rage Virus in essence - but much worse because it'd be airborne.
