A) I never said I saw anything on tv, I said a screen. (In the news, all they show is the bound captive pre-beheading. B) I'm not as simple to say to hell with a person who just plainly cares for their fellow humans' well being although I'm also not the suburbanite conflict-fearing pussy either, I'm the least squeamish person you will never meet. Unless you're just another mindless fan of "glorified" violence or just another wanna be hardass, pictures of ACTUAL DEATH will make you feel SOMETHING whether it be fear, sadness, disgust, or hatred. (Sorry in advance) If I showed you a picture of your mom/ brother/ son: with their brains splattered onto the walls/ hanging post-evisceration/ lying charred and burning in the street, would you not feel something? I mean we're humans not fucking Terminators. You probably do know a few people who are no longer/have never been bothered by killing, but unless you yourself have ever actually taken the life of another, I don't think you should have any say as to how minor a thing it is (no offense man, its just that your nihilistic attitude/ total disregard for human empathy pisses me off). What about the ones whom your acquaintances have killed huh? What about their families? "Ya they were SAD?"...c'mon man...I mean I know this is just a zombie website an all but REAL lives are not as dispensable or as meaningless as you yourself might believe them to be. Now, onto your disgusting skepticism (YOU'RE not disgusting bro, it's just the fact that so many people lie on the internet that you can't even believe what I say, that's what I find sickening (who the fuck lies about that shit anyway?) I WOULD say I could give two shits whether you believe me or not because I don't even know you (nor you I) BUT my aunt/relatives deserve to be acknowledged - I have one aunt in the U.S. Air Force (Janet Esguera Lamzon) as a Staff Sergeant, another aunt (Amelita Mary Lamzon) in the U.S. Army (the one who is mentioned above) an uncle who is also in the Army ("Tito Bobet" Bob Talamera Lamzon), an Uncle-in-Law in the U.S. Navy (Elliot Denny- married to my aunt Mary) , and a Cousin-in-Law (Rojar Cruz) in the U.S. Marines. Look them up man, their real, trust me lol I would not lie about that. NOW, jesus christ! back to zombies XD
Sorry, Rodgar Cruz
I agree partially with the comment above.
I think that, reverting back somewhat to our original animal instincts, we actually wouldnt be to different from the Zombies themselfs. They'd be our hunter, and we'd be their prey. Sure, we'd retain much of our knowledge, but our sense of comman sense would be shaken, and surely our feeling of comfort and safety would be all but forgotten.
Y'all are so pessimistic.

I think the world would be able to successfully thwart a zombie outbreak, though it would take years of warfare and fighting.

Anyway, should the scenario discussed by the thread creator realize, after ten years I think the world would be greatly decentralized, for a period of time, and then as soon as the world economies got running again things would begin to revert to some form of normality (though of course never entirely as before). I think periodic outbreaks of zombism would still be a problem, because there will still be scattered zombies out there, and/or contaminated objects/bodies/etc that could infect people.
I believe the new societies might be an improvement from what we have now. 1- Many of us alive today have a lot more technical know how than they did back in pioneer days. 2- We would all be forced back to a pioneer type lifestyle, farming, hunting, making our own clothes and food (no more Hot Pockets or Big Macs). So we would be living a strenuous life, eating organically grown foods and be revivng technology. Meaning we would be strong, healthy and intelligent. If the tribe you join was intelligent enough, (the apocalypse would provide one hell of a natural selection there) then hopefully the new society would enforce only the laws that make sense.
Yup, but there are always the assholes that want to throw a wrench into the works. I do like your thinking though.
wow, to think that the government would try to regain control after this? i say fuck you, lets see some anarchy! its their fault for letting this happen in the first place! and no, i dont think any zombie within a radius of about 50 miles around me would still be alive. i think i would like to extend a hand to anyone who wants to extend theirs back, and i liked the quote from wwz, i think it fits this situation very well:one cannot cross a river without getting wet.
Hellz yeah anarchy!!!! we need some 'o' that!
Ten years?
If there were still pockets of survivors about then I would suppose even basic methods of organization would be necessary in order to stay safe as a remaining collective.

The remaining zombies from the original outbreak would be a toss up as it depends on if we are talking about sustainment zombies or compulsive zombies.
Meaning that there are some ideas where the undead feed because they actually are nourishing themselves and keeping themselves alive through this pseudo-cannibalism. However there are those who tend to side with the idea that zombies only feed out of a compulsive or primal instinct rather than out of necessity to stay alive.

Both of those scenarios greatly affect the later outcome of the zombie apocalypse as in one scenario most of them would have died out from lack of living tissue to feed on and in the other all zombies unless destroyed or completely rotted away are for the better part of the term, immortal.

I would say in the former scenario if the zombies had been dying off then a great deal of humanity would have begun to experience an increase in population around a decade later. This would mean old systems would probably begin to flourish on a more local basis again and eventually reclaim the earth.

In the latter scenario without the need to feed, humanity unless formulating a heavy resistance and a tactical and swift offensive, will most likely be pushed further and further until only remnants remain and finally....nobody. That still would be unlikely though, Im a firm believer that life continues and human life especially fights to continue. A decade into it we would still have a small chance.
my blog will deal alot with this pirate, if you will want to keep up on it. (i've just started posting 2 days ago, and have 2 submissions already, if you want to check them out)

to me, the focus seems to be too much on the beginning, and not enough on how society heals it's self. thats exactly what i wanna start talking about, after i work my way through the initial apocalpse
