I agree with you completely, Mayniack, about stamina being important. Personally, I can swing a 10 lb sledge all day, as I have done it for work for better than a decade. You're right about the speed of the weapon as well. For a group of more than 3 or 4, a camp hatchet would be great. But the Fubar will be my hands on, primary tool/weapon for the looming Apocalypse. I have a hatchet in my bug out bag for back up. Although... its a cheap ass Walmart special... I should man up and buy a Gerber Camp Axe.

A chainsaw works great in the movies but is totally impractical for anything except its intended use. They are loud and require gas to run on. Swinging one around like a weapon often ends up in a very bad injury to the wielder.
Yea...the Fubar is definately a weapon of epic scale...not only will it sledge heads, but you can get into pretty much anywhere with that thing! I just think if Daniel Day-Lewis...and he wrecked shop with 2 hatchets.

hmm, what about a trench bat?
I've heard of Trench knives and trenching shovels.

But never a Bat.

Image please?
Trench bat or club, its basically a mace. Iron head and haft. Kinda short for my liking but it would do in a pinch...

Here, have a link...

So it's basically a bat with a gear around the edge? Sounds like a very effective weapon, with the striking force of a bat but with the smaller point of impact.
i ka'ne see yer link ser.

but going from hunter's description, i'm thinking basically a flanged mace only more common and easier to make.

or more like a wooden bat with Metal studs.

The two types of trench club I was able to find.
its like a small club with metal at the tip and from there you can mod the metal anyway you want, i figure you can make it to your liking, thats the trench bat im talking about
windlass warhammers/maces. (bar mace looks brutal) around 2lb
