The Walking Dead: Season 2-Episode 1 question...

I kinda stole this from The Walking Dead's facebook page, but for those of you who saw the season  premiere, would you have stayed with two on the highway or gone in the woods to look for sophia....and why?

It is so hard to ignore a "Southern Bell" with that accent in full "gonna have ya mode". There is no hiding or saying no. I spent 3 years at Ft. Campbell, KY. Most of the base is in Tennessee and the place to go is in Clarkesville Tenn. Austin Pea Univ is right there too. Glad I'm married and up north right now. :-S

I like the southern french accent more than the plain southern accent.

I quite agree prime. The 'Southern Belle' accent is my favourite accent from across the pond.

Who could say no indeed. Just a shame there aren't any Southern Belles here in Blighty....Essex girls don't quite cut it I'm afraid.

Kirkman apparently explained the smell thing on the talk show after. It still bugs me though and only because they made a big deal of it in Guts. They had the zombies shuffling up to them and sniffing... I would think that the zombies would have at least gotten agitated by the smell, even if they couldn't see them. To my way of thinking, it's just another sign of Darabont's absense and the budget cuts.

Yes, the Prison... I can hardly wait. I don't have a problem with drama or even melodrama if it's logical and well placed. Lori's reaction to Shane is just all over the place. That being said, I did like her speech to the rest of the group, defending Rick.

Andrew Lincoln is English actually and a very good actor. I have an ear for accents(just another of my many useless talents) and I always seem to pick up on them when they slip. Another sign of budget cuts and a less experienced show runner in that not enough takes were shot to cover the accent holes or, no one bothered to fix it in ADR. I lean towards the latter. Darabont would have had that covered.

I have some ideas as to Merle's re-appearance as well. Rooker has signed to do more so he will be back for certain. Daryl has been one of my favorite characters from the start, I just wish they had given him a moment or two to actually show his change of heart. I doubt the Daryl from last season would have been so happily helpful.

On a related note, the other thing that bugged me about the premiere was the over the top sound effects for the zombie "autopsy" scene. Sounded like he was hiting a wet cedar with a dull axe... lol.

Still love the show though...

I agree Sean, Daryl has fast become my favourite character. Hopefully, he'll be able to tame Merle's temper. Enjoyed the Season premier hugely. Hope Darabont comes back...he rules!!!

 

Just reading the comic books for the first time too by the way, (up to issue #30...so the image below may be a spoiler?....eeeek!) The Governor....what a horrible chap....hope he gets his just desserts!!!

I stand corrected on Andrew Lincoln. I was tinking of the Aussie Actor in Terra Nova.

Meryl/Merle, Merle. I like Rooker as an actor. He can make things frightening. He'd make an awesome Guvna'.

I like Daryl too. He's still got an edge to him though. Somewhat defiant yet staying alive. Would he leave with Shane and Andrea or would he stay?

I guess we'll see how well this new director has done in the other episodes. I mean, this is his first go at the series and he may see mistakes in the later episodes that he didn't see in the earlier ones.

I thought the show was good. I just didn't like the issue I explained earlier. Darabount may be a savant to some folks. I think the creative opinion put out by Kirkland is what will make the show.

I think that him getting shot in the chest is the "PG" version of what happened in the comic. He originaly gets shot in the face/eye by another character named Douglas.

Actually, he was shot in the chest, way back in issue 9 by Otis by mistake. He ends up taking them to Hershel's farm after Rick nearly kills him.
