Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on October 18, 2011 at 4:51pm If he let the kid die in the woods would he be doing any good for the group. Surviving will be based on the group's and individual's mindset to survive. A group with low moral would be less likely to survive. Another thing Rick is doing is taking it upon himself and not pushing the responsibility on someone else in the group. Whether anyone realizes or not, he is leading by example. He may not have wanted to be "The Leader" but it has fallen on him. He is also pushing Shane out of that role. We'll see where that leads.
And it is just what he does. It is automatic. He saw a situation and he reacted.

Permalink Reply by Claire on October 19, 2011 at 12:04am i agree group moral is imperative however as i said previously there needs to be a balance... knowing you will be looked for if it were you and the searching for the girl is grand but searching too long risks more death in the group as with carl, once another member dies "searching" the effect on moral will reverse, resentment will start to build followed by some major questioning of authority.
I think Rick was right to go looking for the girl... and yes he has taken it upon himself to be the leader... In fairness though shane had done a pretty good job til Rick showed up lol.. i mean how many survivors have preished since Risk turned up LMAO

Permalink Reply by Claire on October 20, 2011 at 12:07pm THats all very heroic but it's not very plausible... faced with Shanes reality you know you may be able to rescue Ricks family, honoring your best friend by doing so... trying to drag him out of hospital under the conditions they were in, army and zeds all over would have gotten them both killed and Lori and the kid would never have survived..
He secured the room best he could and left...
As for going after lori... i think it's unfair really, people act differently when under pressure, stress and grief. When going through emotional turmoil it's only natural to want someone to hold you,,,, its also easy to mistake emotions, feelings of gratitude or even concern can be mistaken for romantic love and sometimes it's easier to allow lustful feelings to take over as they manage to hide or over run the fear or pain your going through if only for a little while...
WHile i do feel for Rick and if i were in his position i'd be really really pissed (i have a massive evil jealous streak) from a rational perspective you have to also feel sorry for both Shane and lori too...
If shanes actions were all with good intentions(put yourself in his shoes) then imagine the pain and guilt he is feeling for his friend and the hurt he is feeling at losing Lori
Affiars of the heart are very complicated : )
Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on October 20, 2011 at 2:27pm Shane left Rick to die. He's a douchebag. Secured the room. LOL. Still a Douchebag.
Shane knew he left Rick to die, lied to and scored with Lori, Rick's wife. Bigger Douchebag.
Rick doesn't know Shane and Lori had a sexual relationship. Lori didn't know Rick was alive. She was LIED to by SHANE (AKA Douchebag). I feel nothing but distain and contempt for Douchebag. He has no standing. His immoral behaviour shows that he can't be trusted when the group might go against his opinion or decision. The deception is absolutely clear. He tries to force himself on Lori in the CDC and then basically blames her for what happened. He's taking the situation out on Carl when the kid had nothing to do with it.
He lied. Shane did not have good intentions. There is no if. He hid what happened. He hid that Rick was still alive. You can even surmise that Shane left Rick behind in order to take his place with Lori. Since the series isn't following the comic I'll tell you straight up. By this time in the comic Shane was already eating worms and it wasn't Lori or Rick who killed him. His character in the series is likely on borrowed time but the triangle makes for good drama. Its got us talking about it and I know what happened in the comic. Shane is a subtle antagonist to Rick's protagonist in the comic and even more so in the series. This triangle will not end well. And wait, just wait and see what is coming.
Affairs of the heart or of the flesh can and do get people killed.
Permalink Reply by Claire on October 21, 2011 at 12:45am LOL... I think your biased cos of the comic lol...
First of all Lori should have been in hospital.. if my husband were in a coma you can bet your ass i wouldn't leave his bed side.
Second of all Shane had no option but to Lie. He knew if he didn't Lori wouldn't want to leave or would insist on going to the hospital which Shane knew would be suicide!
To be honest i think Lori and Ricks marriage had been on the Rocks for a long time queue VERY first episode of Series 1 when Rick was talking to Shane about Lori in the Cop Car.
Wouldn't even surprise me if Shane and Lori had been having an affair from before the SHTF.
In anycase by any moral standard Shane shouldn't get all the douchebagness pointed at him... Lori is a grown woman, capable of making her own decisions.
The Love Triangle is obvisouly well build and is doing it's job lol as you said, it's got us debating...
I'm sure Shane will kick the bucket soon enough, and no doubt Lori will too at some stage, "juliette must die" to give romeao (rick) his angry edge... probably not for another series though, might be too soon to get rid of certain characters.
Personally I don't think Lori deserves a husband like Rick and Shane doesn't deserve a friend like him either.. lol what they do deserve is eachother! : )
Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on October 21, 2011 at 9:08am Oh yeah, Lori is a Trashy Ho. I don't disagree with that. If not for Rick this whole triangle would be Jerry Springer fodder.
Shane didn't have to lie. He could have put his friend over his shoulder and made for his car. He has a gun. Zeds were an issue no matter what.
Almost all cop's marriages are stressed. Believe me I know. Even when they aren't we talk about them as if they are. That's one of our secrets. You know, The "Ole Ball and Chain". Ya don't even have to be a cop to talk about the ole ball and chain. Ask your husband. :-)
Lori not being at Rick's side. Yep, I said it before she is a trashy ho. I don't like her and no one is supposed to like her. "She ain't no Juliet".
The Soap Opera Fodder is keeping my wife interested so I can't really complain.
I'm not betting on Shane dying anytime soon. The scenes for the next episode show some adventure in his life. Maybe he doesn't die at all in the series. Maybe he just goes off on his own.
Now, Andrea is a whole different story. She plays a major part and though you don't like the whining now wait until she develops more in character. Oh yeah, Glenn gets laid. :-)
