Hey guys! I just want to ask you something about thermal imagers. Do you think that they can be a good asset during a zombie apocalypse or not? Is it more preferable to have one of these than night vision? What are the strengths and weaknesses of these things?
strength: detects infrared radiation
weakness: cost $25,000
easily blocked by a pane of glass.
Could you please explain what you meant by "easily blocked by a pane of glass"?
Also, by detects infrared radiation, do you mean that it can see through walls like how it's shown in some movies?
I dont think this kind of tech will help detect zombies, as in the walking dead because their dead, no heart beat would mean cold blood temp and as such render Thermal imaging tech pointless.
A glass wall would interfear with the thermal imaging as the glass would block the heat signature of the person behind it, making the glass appear to be just as solid to the termal imaging tech as a brick wall would, unless somebody was to put their hand on it in which case it would warm up very fast around the hand print etc.
I would suggest a good pair of bins for day work and night vision for well night lol
I have used a wide variety of thermal imagers and night vision. Thermal imagers are great for spotting concealed enemies. You will be able to spot someone hiding who you may miss with night vision. However, thermal imagers are good to use when you are posted up. There are not as optimal as night vision while moving. A pair of binocular night vision goggles mounted to a Protec skateboard helmet will make you the master of the night.
Night vision will help you spot zombies and any threat on the trail ahead. Zombies may not give off a heat signature. After all, they are walking corpses. Thermal imagers are effective against other humans, but until we know if a zombie gives off heat, they may be useless against the undead.
I am agreeing with David on this one because dead bodies produce no heat. on is also much cheaper and more commonly found and you also abe to think bout battery umption rates. sorry out the spelling i m using a phone guys
This type of system would only be good for detecting living humans who might try and attack your camp. Though recently dead zombies might create a false positive as they might still be warm.
