Thinking of starting an online radio station, any suggestions?

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of starting an online radio station called "SNR" (Survivor News Radio) on Itunes. Any suggestions on songs, (fake)news broadcasts, and how to actually start it? (I don't know how.) Of course, it will be the loosely based on the style of GNR, but with user imput, and -of course- zombies.

Thanks, please respond!

If you want songs, you should play the end - by the doors or the end is the beginning is the end by smashing pumpkins.
Both are great songs.
I would submit some of my stuff for your station if you want it. 2 songs are up here. I have some on myspace if you want to listen and I can also send you my chart positions and awards/reviews on garageband.com. Send me a message if your interested, i could really use the promo and its helping the cause.
-- try -Richard cheese, down with the sickness add that to the list.

. Try to keep the show short, perhaps an hour long, as constant talking can affect your voice and lack of material can cause dead air on the show.
. Talking for what equates to be 40 mins (after music break ect..) can be a daunting task, so try to fill in some of that time with audience participation in the form of co-hosts, e-mail readings and even commenting on topics the listeners suggest.
. Prepare some show notes that detail the order of your segments, times and what points you will be making on each topic you present, this will stop you from bumbling through the segment if you run out of material.
. Make sure you have permission to play music or use music that's not copy-written (for pod casts)
. If you want to ensure an all ages rating, make sure to regiment any expletive language used
. Add a list of drop-ins for that added feeling of professionalism
. If you can secure music legally, try to keep it tasteful, as this will keep an all ages rating and stop people from writing in with angry e-mails about your music choices
. If you do intend on swearing, make sure to warn the listeners before the show starts, as this will stop any possible legal issues or other angry e-mails
. Make sure to run some back ground music, as it will cover up any buzzing or other problems with the audio (Make sure to keep it low volume and with no lyrics)
. My advice (as a previous gaming caster) is to start small, practice for a while first and gain confidence. Talking into a void where you receive no immediate feed back can be unnerving and can reduce the quality of your show
. In my opinion you should start with a pod cast, as you are able to edit parts you are unhappy with, speak with more confidence and only release it when you are good and ready to. I hosted a pod cast for about a year and the change between that and a live stream was so extreme I was unable to talk for the first half of the show.
. If you can buy a quality headset or microphone, make sure to do so, as there is nothing worse than crackling or screeching audio. If you are using a microphone, try to prop it up with a microphone stand (or do what I did and make one out of a bottle). Try to keep outside noise to a minimum, host the show in a small space with the windows and doors shut, TV’s off ect...
. When speaking, act like you are sounding out the words to someone, as it will stop you from mumbling and help you to project.
. Never breathe into the headset, if you start to breath heavily for some reason, place the headset or microphone above your nose and point straight ahead, not downwards
. Remember that almost everything you say will be caught on the microphone, so make sure to keep track of what you think you’re saying under your breath or any noises such as squeaking chairs.
. Be confident. This is the most important tip I can give you. When I listen to my first and second post casts, my voice was shaky, quiet and squeaky, traits which are not well received by the listeners. With confidence you can keep your voice steady and your points meaningful.
. Remember that this is YOUR show, if someone tries to force you to change the format, style or anything about it, remind them that if they think it should be changed, they should start their own show. If it is constructive criticism, welcome it as it may help to improve your show.
. Here is where your confidence comes into play once more, many people may write in with negative feedback, sexist, racist and discriminatory points, ignore these or (if your audience shares your mentality) read out these e-mails if you have something to funny to say or something to argue, as it may humiliate the e-mailer and provide ample topics for discussion.

I know I’m missing some points, but I just though a few pointers would help.
Well I think that covers it, I'll do a weekly call in for ya if you want, I dont work normal shifts so I could never do a consecutive spot, maybe I could be a survivor that calls in when I get to my new destination and I can tell crazy tales of the past week etc......
Last Living Souls - Gorillaz I'm also working on a zombie themed song I could submit once finished
You should play Snail Bob's entire discography.
Actually, no.
Early Blue Oyster Cult and Black Sabbath would be great.
A few other fitting songs would be "The End of the World" by Aphrodite's Child, "Welcome to the Machine" by Pink Floyd, and maybe "Raise the Dead" by Bathory.
you can talk about virus, outbreaks, zombie ral diseases, and how would it end, and you cna play , disturbed, A7x, Slipknot , ACDC......highway to hell 4 example....seether, the white stripes.....no heaven by dj champion, aint no rest for the wicked by cage the elephant

and you can invite people to your program like, cientists, celebrities of zombie movies, etc.... or me haha
well if me and my band should put our songs on myspace you should look us up i just dont know how :( ...were called the masons were a crust punk band but ive wrote a few songs based on zombie and romero movies so just in case your interested hit me up ...or you could just play songs by the misfits :)
One song I know of, have you heard of the band Decypher Down? Well one of their songs, "Walking Dead" would be a perfect song for you station. How to make one? I have no idea, but I hope you figure it out.
Don't fear the reaper - Blue oyster cult
Who made who - ACDC
Zombies at my neighbors - Single file
Zombie zoo - Tom Petty
I walked with a zombie - Wednesday 13
