Awesome! If I find horse crap in my travels, I know who's horses it's from (assuming you will be traveling in the southern states).
I'm currently in Pa but have land in Missouri so I guess I'll be a Yank for a while.
Thank Ya much.
You can survive with very little equipment, if you have prior military, backpacking, hunting or any outdoor experience.Ask any Combat Arms veteran and they know it's all about training, most Special Operaions units carry only what they need in their rucksacks. Most urban commandos don't stand a chance in the wilderness if they need to flee the cities, because you need to train "prior" to the day the infected rule the earth, and most city slickers are too soft. Can't read a map and compass buy a Military FM on land navigation, buy books on survival training and you'll be better prepared to survive with very little. Remember you can alway's find food, bottled water and many other supplies in the thousands of abandon cars that will litter the roads. Be in shape, can you run, climb a hill, defend yourself against an unarmed attacker, without getting out of breath? Nothing beats prior military service when it comes to knowing what to carry and how to use it.
So do a google survival search and print out a several binders worth of survival information to read and study and you'll realize you don't need that much to survive in the beginning as long as you can resupply in the future from abandon vehicles and abandon stores/homes. Why would you ride a bike? You'll be restricted to roads and trails where the bad humans with bad intentions and infected might be hanging out.

never thought off that i thought a mountian bike woul be good. i guess i should study my sisterrs diriving mauel
hehe. Wouldn't that just suck to find out you're fresh out of building materials...
Sometimes you have no choice but to move. If I were in the city at work when the SHTF I'd be breakin camp and heading for home. Not that I'd abandone my job and partners but at some point in a total destruction/fall/Zpoc there is a point of no return. I'd take a few folks with me but no huge crowd. If the roads and highways are clogged or blocked I have access to horses near town. It might be a major battle to get to them but they are on the way.
keep some denatured or high proof alchahol around. about 180 proof. carry a pennystove with you and a small windshile. you can also use a tunacan and some paper, wich is easy to get to get the stove started.
the tunacan will hold the fire while the pennystove gets boiling. then light the fumes up.
3 day assault ruck (its called assault but it is very much a heavy duty backpack) filled with:
My Berreta + 3 full mags and two boxes
compass and area maps (which I am very good at reading)
nalgenes filled with water as well as a purifier
socks and other esseintial clothing items (underwear couple of shirts)
MREs for a few days
First aid kit
tactical knife
Goretex jacket
I know my local forests like the back of my hand and altho I can't run I can walk all day. My m/cycle will get me out of town and into the edge of the forest where I'll hide it and continue on foot. Every thing I need is in my bug out bag, food, clothes, sleeping bag, ammo and 1 rifle. I don't pack much water because in summer it rains almost every afternoon at 4pm sharp and there are countless creeks that all thru winter.
