It will give you a good idea in factual terms as to how fast a real pandemic can spread. - like at a rate of 25 % of the WORLD population in less than 3 months.
During that 3 month period, scientists would have to identify the virus/cause, find a cure, test the cure on animals, test the cure on humans, collect conclusive results that the cure is viable without terrible side effects, get final FDA approval to manufacture and then there's still a wait because they only manufacture so much at a time - in THREE MONTHS
That, is realistically impossible, so then more people will be dying while all the above is being done
And you think you are going to live to see a cure????? HAHAHAHAH
The best thing is to stay away from other people. Less contact, less contract.
Plus, any serious prepper has one hell of a medical kit and knows how to use everything in it.

It is too easy for a mistake to be made when creating/working with viruses. I have always thought that the end of us would be because of some crazy overzealous scientists messing with things they shouldn't be messing with. We have become so arrogant and foolish. It is really scary.
With all of the crap scientists are doing these days, and with things like prions out there, I really think something similar to "zombies" is possible. Not likely, but possible. And we have enough to worry about already, what with super flus and ebola and all that.

To quote T.S. Eliot:
"I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
Half of the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm. But the harm does not interest them.
This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper."
