With the ever increasing population, should we not be looking for ways to live with our undead brethren? It's not like there's not plenty for them to eat, and it's survival of the fittest if a fat kid gets snacked on. Zombies are the working class of the undead but beyond them is a host of creatures that not only want rights but can form sentences and demand them. We mustn't forget that the zombie comes to mind first only because they are more numerous, and in some ways more crass, than the other undead out there. Vampires wait for the night when they are no longer being written about by Anne Rice. Mummies just want solitude and a 10% cut of the treasure they guard, books they are in, and any movie appearances. It should also be remembered that werewolves hate being called undead and want to be treated like any human with a horrible disease. So what say you? Do we give the undead freedoms or hunt them down? I say freedom. I started a t-shirt company called Tattered Star Apparel to help the undead gain their rights. Go to www.tatteredstar.com and join the revolution. Viva la zombie!

I'm glad you brought the lycanthrope thing up,I was going to say that.
All of y'all, please read Dying to Live: Life Sentence by Kim Paffenroth. ('tis a very good book) I split the "undead" (and I use that term loosely) into two categories. Category 1 is what we more commonly see; the killing machines that are unable, or unwilling, to stop killing (note; some "living" (once again, used loosely) also fall into this category). This category I will hunt down without mercy, be it zombie, vampire, human, werewolf, mummy or other, and probably enjoy it. Category 2 is less common; they may be "undead", but they are still intelligent and do not prey on people. To hunt down and destroy these would be no better than hunting down the "living" (worse in some cases) and automatically places you in category 1, regardless of "living" status.

To slaughter anything/one without regard to consequences or to the individual is wrong, and usually called genocide.

Regardless of anything, however, if I'm attacked, my attacker will be getting a bullet to the face.

Seriously, read Dying to Live.
To slaughter anything/one without regard to consequences or to the individual in wrong, and usually called genocide...

Yeah, but it's not killing when they are already dead. At most, you have a zombie genocide. The safety of the undead, in this case, would rest on it's infectiousness. If it's not infectious without biting, and it knows not to bite...okay, something to consider...but if it creates additional zombies by accident, or becomes more hazerdous than productive...Euthenasia...
1. My definition of "killing" is ending the "existence" (happy?) of an intelligent being (who isn't trying to kill you for no reason).
1.2 Let's not get into an argument over semantics. They're pointless and aren't any fun at all.
2. If the "zombie" (used very loosely) is infectious without biting, the "virus" is most likely airborne and we're all screwed anyway, unless we are immune, in which case the airborne nature of the "virus" doesn't matter anyway.
2.2 Unless it's waterborne, in which case don't let it near your clean water and boil all your water (which you should be doing anyway).
2.3 Or spread by contact, in which case just make sure it knows not to touch you or "clean" surfaces/things.
3. Everyone makes mistakes, and in the zombie (or any other) apocalypse some of those mistakes will cost lives. You don't just kill them for that (unless you decide to be a tyrant or are completely heartless), you find out how the mistake happened, learn from it and use that knowledge to improve. "Living" status shouldn't affect that learning process.
4. What about kids in China? (just kidding)

Not to be repetitive, but you should seriously read Dying to Live. It is a very good book and is different than most other zombie books (that I've read anyway). Just go to your local library (a lot of libraries even have websites where you can do this) and see if they have it. If not, put in an inter-library loan request in. It's not very long either.
Fair enough
I dunno about calling ravenous dead cannibals my brethren. That's cutting "tolerance" to beyond being stupid
Think about the future. BRRRAAAIIINNN
I am thinking of the future. Zed comes near me or my community, zed gets taken out
how about I ask the next one I see to waork together WHILE IT"S EATING MY BRAINS
The sad thing is, if there ever were an undead zombie apocalypse, I could see some stupid hippies wanting to give the creatures "rights."
Yeah...PETU. And like PETA, they'd go WAY to far and do WAY more harm than good. Then, when the mainstream rejected them, they'd go off to try to live with the zombies and get eaten. But however much I loathe to agree with a bunch of retards on any level, you really shouldn't be cruel to animals. I still eat meat (and personally believe PETA should stand for people eating tasty animals) and like leather. I also think, loathe as I am to agree with even more idiots, if you see a zombie behaving intelligently, maybe you should investigate before you charge in, guns blazing.
You know what they call Stupid "Hippies" who would want to extend rights to the Zombies?
