Permalink Reply by Claire on November 30, 2011 at 5:24am Totally disagree on Shane... The world is different now and while he might have opposite end of the spectrum ideas i don't think he's all bad... Him shooting OTIS was a good and necessary move... it was sad and most people might have found it harder to do but that just makes him all the better in that sense.. he can make that kind of decision.. Rick wouldn't have killed otis EVEN though his own sons life depended on it...
you're right about no one stepping up to tghe plate but thats because Rick is more diplomatic... he should run for govenor or something - he wants to be all things to all men and it's just not a possibility... as we will see later on..
Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on November 30, 2011 at 11:20am You know, I call him a douchebag. That encompasses LIAR, MURDERER and Potential RAPIST. He is self serving and narcissistic. All this means that the actor portraying him is pretty damn good. You fall in line behind a sociopath like Shane and you deserve what you have coming. I don't back Rick because he has no backbone at this point int he series. I believe you're about to see that change.

Permalink Reply by Michael T. Douglas on November 30, 2011 at 8:35pm Shane may have skills that will help him survive, but he's a coward. He won't think twice about stepping on someone's shoulders to get himself somewhere. The only reason he doesn't kill Dale or Rick is because he knows he'll have no place in the group. It would just be an expense to him. I think if Andrea leaves with him and she gets caught in a tough situation, Shane will leave her to her own demise. Thats just the kind of guy he is, I mean, he had no problem suggestting leaving when he felt that Sophia was dead.
Shane will only bring himself down. Sooner or later, he will run into a problem and panic the same way he did when he shot Otis, but he won't have anybody's shoulders to climb.
Permalink Reply by Claire on December 1, 2011 at 12:37am Thats cos they'll write him that way lol... Seriously though, i'd have only stuck around for the first night after sophia went missing... it was a dumb ass idea that she might still be alive and if it turns out it wasn't really sophia then thats an even BIGGER dumb ass idea!
Everyone keeps making shane out to be a coward but he volunteered to go out into unknown territory to get what was need to save Carl... Otis was dispensable! i'd have shot him too if thats what it took to survive...
If shane does leave i hope he does take andrea and i hope that she does get eaten annoying bitch.
Also everyone seems to have forgotten that shane is the only reason that Lori and Carl and in fact most of the group ever survived longenough for rick to come along... it's only Ricks diplomacy and loris' guilt ridden support for her husband that makes Rick look like he's doing a great job.. Lori was the mother hen of the group so when she's pledging allegance to her husband the rest of the group sorta just followed suit!
I love how this show gets us all debating ! : )
Permalink Reply by Michael T. Douglas on December 1, 2011 at 11:45am No doubt, Shane is a surviver. But, I don't think he'll last long on his own. If he has some excess bag he'll just kick it off like he did Otis. The only reason he sticks around is for Lori and Carl, mostly Lori. If he ever disliked them and they were in a tough spot, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he got rid of them as fast as he did Otis. He just doesn't understand that that guilt he'd have if he left Lori and Carl to die, is the same guilt Rick would have if he just gave up looking for Sophia.
Finding Sophia was a symbol of hope, without hope whats the point. If things never got better and the whole world stayed a shit mess forever, would you honestly want to live in that kind of world? They'd have to believe they'd find Sophia, just like they'd have to believe things will get better. Thats the whole reason Lori wanted to kill the baby, because she gave up hope. Hope makes you do crazy things.
All that said, staying out of harms way may not always be best for your survival. Sometimes you gotta take a risk to make your life better.
