Alright, here's the point of this Conversation.

Clearly some weapons and armor have advantages over others yes we all know this.

But what about the Psychological aspect, what would be the reason for using certain weapons or wearing certain armor's.

Think about it, if you pick up a chainsaw it's because you associate the sound and look of a chainsaw with POWER, extreme killing power, it would instill you with confidence.

in short think of a weapon or Armor that would instill you and those around you with confidence just to see someone using it.

Personally i say the most prominant are the Chainsaw and plate armor... now imagine someone in both?...

Indeed I agree with the aspect on certain weapons being associated with certain feelings in you and thus your group due to the acting mirror nuerons. I would be more worried about picking the wrong weapons, because if your scared, nervous, doubting in the power of the weapon your carrying, then so are the people around you. On the otherhand, you could be holding a stuffed animal, but if you seem confident that you can beat a zombie with it then everyone else will be confident in that you can. With armor, again, you want to be confident that what your wearing will protect you, leave no room for doubt, because doubt festers and nags at you and effects your general conduct. Again, if you believe that your boxers are protection enough and you confidently go running and screaming towards a horde of zombies in the belief that you won't get bitten. Then theres no way anyones going to stop you, sure your pretty much bound to get bitten, but your confidence installs that shred of faith in those looking on that you just might whup some zombie arse and come out without a scratch.

I think that the more brutal a weapon looks, the flashier and more protective and hardcore your armour and your general dress looks. The more brutal and confident your going to feel and the more people are going to look at you and be like 'dyamn! I bet that guy can kick some arse.' Of course, its not necessarily your best protection physically, but mentally I think anything and everything has the potential to install the possibly false belief of protection or kickarse firepower. Like a tank, even if its not working, it looks good, and like hell your going to jump in it and start firin outta that turrent, cos it makes you feel kickarse and its probably pretty decent zombie protection if you drop in and fasten the hatches.
Exactly my point freind, just better worded.
Have you ever used a chainsaw to cut wood? Have you ever tried to run in Plate Armor?

Chainsaws get stuck, they are cumbersome and are not fuel effeicient.

Plate Armor restricts your movement, can be heavy and cumbersome.

It all looks and sounds great until you're in the middle of a fight and find out, "Hey, this shit doesn't work like in the videogame!" You have no psychological boost if you're dead and shambling.
Yes i have run in plate armor, no i have not used a chainsaw, the point i was making was psychological effects not how effective it was.

And your knowledge of Plate armor is sadly lacking, it is desined to provide maximum protection and moevment, if you can't move in it, it doesn't fit at all.

Heavy yes, but not as heavy as Chainmail, i have worn both.

and would wear neither continuously through the Zomblorg appocolypse simply because it would be uncomfortable.
My knowledge of Plate armor is lacking. It extends to Seeing it at a faire and a dinner show. and I'm sure these are light weight versions. The fact is Kevlar is a much better armor for what you'll likely be looking at. Google the Northern Hollywood Bank Robbery video and you will see. Yes they finally stopped the robbers who were covered from top to bottom in Kevlar but it took .223/5.56 rifles to do it. Shotguns and pistols were basically ineffective. Kevlar is soft and more maneuverable. I've worn it for 20 years as a cop. It gives very little protection from bladed weapons but it does give some.

I use a chainsaw to cut wood to heat my home and hot water in the winter. Most people who could get it started would likely cut their own leg off.

Biker leathers, or sport bike wear would work great. A Kevlar vest with motocross padding and some football padding on arms and shin and thigh guards is going to give you good coverage and maneuverability.
Kevlar provides a lot of protection against bladed weapons. I own a PASGT flak jacket and two pairs of cut-proof kevlar-lined tactical gloves.
True, Kevlar gives some slash protection. Stab protection is another story. I've got a pair of those gloves too. Haven't been attacked while wearing them.
What are you talking about? Chain mail is much lighter than plate mail.
If it's made of aluminium yes... but as i have said, 'I' 'Have' worn 'Both' i have worn a two layer Chainmail Haubrek that came to my knees and Elbows... it weighed 30Kg on it's own, i have worn mailess plate armor, Thats basically my personal Kit which weighs 15Kg all up...
the other stuff was about 20 KG
About the platarmor, My best friend is a armorsmith and if the armor is mad for you it dosent restrickt you movment an its not to hevy. But ther is a lot of eges to grab for the unded, and you dont want that. So platarmor is a nogow.
Chainsaws don't instill any confidence at all. Too heavy, too short and they rely on fuel, and anyone that has used one will know they can be a bitch to start at times.
I'd feel very confident in my bike leathers with a shotgun and a good supply of ammo. I'd look sharp in a kinda Mad Max way and the leather is pretty much bite proof, the shotgun is reliable and has that big intimidating hole at the front. yea, I'm feelin pretty confident right now. :)
big..intimidating hole..at the front, that is all i needed too hear XD
