Alright, here's the point of this Conversation.

Clearly some weapons and armor have advantages over others yes we all know this.

But what about the Psychological aspect, what would be the reason for using certain weapons or wearing certain armor's.

Think about it, if you pick up a chainsaw it's because you associate the sound and look of a chainsaw with POWER, extreme killing power, it would instill you with confidence.

in short think of a weapon or Armor that would instill you and those around you with confidence just to see someone using it.

Personally i say the most prominant are the Chainsaw and plate armor... now imagine someone in both?...

Pistols are great for survivors (as opposed to hunters) as survivors rarely need to take out zombies at long range. Simply get within 10 feet of the zombie and blow the thing's brains out.
Why would you "want" to be that close? I can understand if you have no choice.

i think if accuracy skill was lacking you would want a 10 foot distance or if you know people are sizing you up then its almost the best way to show off your skill and back them away......

Beware the man with one gun. He probably knows how to use it.

one the subject of the chainsaw yea it will do alot of damage and look cool as hell but dont forget that chain is spining toward you so the blood and flesh is coming back at you and going all over the place so you not only run the risk of infecting your self but others around you. just a idea to consider if you wont to instill convadence and live long enogh to tell about it.
hunting is great training, if you cant walk up a mountian in 40 lbs of gear u cant do it regularly, then jogging in place is good as well
I read a short story and the protaganest was a profesonal zombie killer and he wore armor made from plastic heavy enough to prevent bite through and slick enough so he couldnt be grabed ,
Ok guys i was using the Chainsaw and Plate armor as a primary example of things that would inspire a sence of confidence in someone, honestly i'm not stupid enough to wear Plate armor simply because of the heat it builds up.

the idea of this was to look at what you beleive would be the best weapon or armor for inspiring confidence, as was mentioned a Tank would be an awesome one.
But think more locally, what can you get as a civilian that would be a fearsome weapon.
Yeah, we have strayed a little from the psychological approach on this. That is depending on what/who's approach you take. For instance Freud's approach would probably be like: People will use the weapon that looks most alike the opposite genders genitals or will impress the opposite gender, but then he's a sick fuck. Although possibly some people will take such an approach.
Also the humanistic approach which I think many will take, I would take myself. Making your own choices in any situation and using the weapons and armor that will drive you towards making the most of your potential. So, the weapons that work best for you and will kill the most zombies that you could. And the armor you can manouver yourself best in, be comfortable and protected in sort of thing.
Psychological boost you say, if put against one hundred million dead things thinking there is no hope and turning around to see the Calvary arriving, would do it for me.
Some Armour mounted soldiers, Apache's rushing above or maybe
even just a butt-load of APC's with men pouring out forming a firing line.
A single person isn't enough, they are flesh and blood and can be killed as easily as you and i.
Dude, STAY OUT OF MY HEAD!!
