Hey Prime,
This is completely off base from the shotgun, but I thought I would throw this out there to get your opinion on it. I have yet to see one of these up close, though they are available for sale to the American market. I didnt like the design at first, but its sorta growing on me. Parts would be non exsistant here in the states, so it wouldnt be my bugout weapon of choice. Im really starting to like the gun though.

FN-USA FS2000 in 5.56x45
I like the FN version better. It uses the AR mags and 5.56x45/.223 rem is everywhere. I'm ok with a bullpup. It gives you a tight base by keeping your arms in closer to your body. I believe they use the AR barrel on them too. The price isn't all that bad. I don't like the lack of iron sights though. A base gun can be had for the price of an expensive AR. Accuracy should be dead on.

Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on May 11, 2011 at 11:04am I've heard the FS2000 is very ergonomic. Haven't held one yet. You're right on the parts. FN has one of the current AR military contracts. It would be cost efficient to make many of the parts interchangeable. There will still be hard to find proprietary parts.
I've seen one of these. AK47 BP. I was not impressed.
Permalink Reply by James McDonald on May 11, 2011 at 11:15am I haven't looked into it yet, but I highly doubt that any of the parts will interchange. I know the SCAR is vastly different than other AR platforms in its function. I know their contracted for another type of AR, but Ive never seen it. I doubt those parts would interchange very much.
I guess it all comes down to firing it to see how comfortable it really is to fire. Ive fired a bullpup AR15 conversion, and I really didnt care for it all that much. It was a lot faster for close quarter combat, and it tucked in closer. It just felt weird, and getting use to the magazine swap was hard. I think if you practiced with it alot it would be alright.
If I had a base of operations during a collapse of civilization I think I would very seriously consider carrying a FN p90 in 5.7 for any type of supply scavenging, and building entry. I like the fact that they employ a 50 round mag. I will agree the 5.7 is a glorified .22, but it is one hell of a glorification. Armour piercing rounds, and a hell of a lot more punch.
