get your stuff in the car, start engine, shift into reverse, drive thru the garage door and over any zombies. shift to drive and go until you find a deserted part of town.
Get a big bucket of gasoline, pour it into a watergun, and tape a lighter to the front. You've got an instant flame-thrower. Sounds stupid, I know, but that's enough to thin the ranks of the zeds and assuming you've got a roof on a two-story house, they shouldn't be able to reach you.
ya, seriously, what watergun have you ever seen that doesnt leak an ass ton?
First off, gas melts the type of plastic used in most toys and water pistols. Secondly, the very last thing you want walking in and arround your safe house is zombie flambe'.
Zombies/Fire is always a no no. It doesn't do anything to pierce the skull for some time, dense muscle tissues are very hard to burn away. So while you wait for the fire to burn into the skull, you create zombies who are also catching everything flammable around them on fire.
If the zombies are focusing on your house specifically, getting out might be your best bet. On the other hand, if a bunch are just in the area, gathering what you can get quiet, and out of sight. Hide in a good place that offers some route of escape.

I don't think zombies will be going door-to-door looking for warm flesh to feed on. Something has occur to draw their attention. So just because a bunch are near you doesn't mean you have to run are get into a confrontation. Learning to survive near zombies is a great advantage.

If you must leave, try to head to an area that isn't heavily populated. Getting out of town and looking for an abandoned farmhouse or something.
Bend over and kiss your ass good bye?
Think you need to add more to the scenario.
But as it is, lets assume they are outside in the street/ garden, quickly find your tools screw off 1-2 doors in the house bring them to the staircases, then lay them into a dead lock for when you go up there.
( doors will make it hard for them to get up the stairs, also might want to pour something flammable/ oily onto the doors and hallway in case of emergency.)
Hm what else, prep your survival bag and get other tools and equipment before you head up and make the dead lock solid. then while safe upstairs, create makeshift protection against the bites and scratches-then get to the garage thru the roof, get in and escape, then locate a area with high walls and easy escape routes but also soil for planting of vegetables. Depending on resources scavenge people trying to escape the city by using the main road clogging it. Gather all gas and clothing/food/ resources you can. etc least that's a start on how to survive in my book. - Something along those lines
My basic Pep Talk:

Stay alive, no matter what occurs. We're in this fight for the survival of the species and we are too close to getting snuffed out.

Slick
Staying alive is the goal, but the strategy and the tactics to achieve that goal are just as important. Survival of the species isn't anywhere near important in the short term, and if that were the only issue somebody might get it into their head to sacrifice themselves for the good of the many--therefore, individual survival takes priority in this type of case unless you can help somebody else by sheltering them as well and you can support them (but make sure they can support you as well in your survival, which in turn helps the long-term species survival goal and the short-term individual survival goal).
ok then were do I go?
As in what room in your house or where outside of your house?

That all depends on where you live and what type of house you have.
